The platinum runner with a surprising challenge
The challenge is timely completions. It is also an accurate pickup. However, before any of that, it’s accepting the offer. That one detail has a ripple effect. If it’s a crew courier, the next delivery up, is the one. If it’s a solo courier, using a delivery app, the next one up can be declined. Then the one after that, can also be declined. This is a part of the delivery app process. The ability to select, or decline a delivery offer, is a built in resource management tool.
With this in mind, managing resources wisely, is the platinum way. No delivery app actually says that. However, it is sound reasoning for a courier. Anything that has platinum status can only be helpful. After all, the word implies something that is rare. And like platinum, it has value. Therefore, achieving that status in a delivery app, usually comes with perks. Not a million dollar prize. But a few perks. For example, access to larger orders. Larger orders often have larger tips.

Another perk of platinum status, in a delivery app, is the work anytime option. Seven in the morning? No problem. Fire up the app, and get busy. In terms of scheduling, this is an advantage to anyone with an evolving schedule. Furthermore, it works day and night. However, is it really worth it? The only way to achieve the high ratings, is to accept the bad with the good. So, how does a courier hold those high ratings, and still make a buck or two?
The Platinum Runner
In sports there are championships. Some sports, like boxing, have titles for their champions. The heavy weight title has been held by many champions through the years. Some champions held the title longer than others. However, no one held any title, indefinitely. Titles have to be defended, in order to be held. The levels in a delivery app are similar to titles. Once achieved, they must be maintained.

It sounds easy. However, it requires careful balancing of resources. For example, an acceptance rating falls, faster than it climbs. It’s based on an average of the sum. There is a percentage of declines, against the percentage of accepted. This means at some point there will be a crossroads. And most likely a need to learn some magic and possibly get a magical device. Such as a wand.
The preceding description isn’t meant to poke fun at the algorithm. At least not entirely. However, it shows how tricky it can be to maintain that platinum status. And that is only one part. All other metrics still need maintaining. On time pickups. On time drop-offs. Pickup accuracy, and customer satisfaction. Those are the important ones for maintaining that platinum status.
The Surprise Challenge
Experienced couriers remember learning these things. And it doesn’t take long to reach a platinum status. It is mostly about keeping the ratings as positive as possible. Finding some Halloween decorations has a positive effect on the spirit as well. The pictures in today’s article are just a few of the local decorations. More on the way in upcoming articles. The Halloween season is a bonus for delivery drivers.

Not only are there spooky decorations to enjoy, but also the season is festive, and that makes for a positive delivery scene. Furthermore, most at home delivery customers are feeling the festive in the season too. Attention to details and good communication with the delivery customer goes a long way. It gives the delivery a mark of professionalism. Something every courier can do. Likewise, it’s something most customers appreciate.
Finally, the surprise challenge is to keep an eye out for that surprise. Some of those decorations look pretty convincing. Do I believe in giant spiders the size of a house? You betcha, especially on Halloween. Stay safe out there.
