The fireworks delivery and tips for better drop-off safety
It’s that time of year again. The weather is hot and the days are long. The holiday season is still a few months away. However, there are summer holidays. One of the most popular summer holidays (in the USA) is the 4th of July celebration. Not only is it a celebrated holiday, but also a chance to enjoy a fireworks show. And some of those shows are spectacular.
And some of them happen in local neighborhoods.
With this in mind, the likelihood of crowded neighborhood streets, is a given. Furthermore, there will be the after effects of at home fireworks. For example, lots of smoke and debris, on the road. Similarly, many firework enthusiasts aim the fireworks away from the house. It’s a safety approach that has a catch. Aiming away from the house, means the aim is somewhere else. Usually, that is over the neighborhood road.
This isn’t a direct aiming strategy. It is just a safer way to celebrate Independence Day at home. Therefore, the area over the road becomes a type of viewing area. And where all the fun happens. Especially for the courier. Nothing says hustle like avoiding bottle rockets, and firecrackers. There are also neighborhoods where the road might be used as a staging area for launching fireworks. This is when the drop-off of a delivery, needs the safety approach.
The Fireworks Delivery
The Halloween holiday is one of the most stressful delivery days of the year. Not from an overload of delivery opportunities, but from activity on neighborhood streets. Experienced couriers are on constant alert for pedestrian activity on the road. The 4th of July holiday should be the same. A fireworks celebration can take place almost anywhere.

Additionally, there are the younger firework enthusiasts. Many of which may be darting into the street to light those fireworks. It is one of the top reasons for the courier to slow down when entering a neighborhood. This also applies to side streets and driveways. A July 4th celebration can take place almost anywhere.
In fact, there can be safety concerns for the courier too. Fireworks can be unpredictable. Something lit from down the street, can make its way to the courier’s location, in a split second. Likewise, there is falling debris from the sky. While it might be a light weight bottle rocket stick, or similar, it can still be a surprise if it hits the windshield from above.
Better Drop-off Safety
Something falling onto the windshield can be startling. However, there are concerns from beneath as well. For example, sparklers and pinwheels. For something so small, these types of fireworks give off an enormous amount of heat. Therefore driving over them, when they are lit, is not a best practice. In fact, it could cause serious damage to the underside of the ride.
This is also true with things like firecrackers. The burst of heat could cause a chain reaction. An engine compartment fire is not the best way to successfully complete a delivery. Although, it might score high for the drama effect. Nevertheless, the courier should avoid driving over any active firework.
Attention to detail with cautious and alert driving, are two ways a courier can improve drop-off safety. Especially on the 4th of July holiday. Furthermore a deliberately low, and watchful rate of speed, in all neighborhoods, is key. However, this also gives a courier the chance to enjoy some of the celebration. After all, fireworks are exciting, and awe inspiring. And the courier has a front row seat right there on the road. Now that’s a great celebration. Stay safe out there.
