The best late night food and a short delivery window
The short delivery window, is a feature of the late night delivery. Late night delivery has a different flow than a standard delivery. For example, the roads are clear, and traffic is usually light. Furthermore, there are fewer red lights, because there are fewer cars triggering them. This is one advantage of the late night delivery. Additionally, it’s the last call for late night food.
Merchants with later than average business hours, are top choices for the late night delivery customer. There are usually only a few merchants open in the late night hours. In comparison to normal business hours, it’s only a few. However, a few is enough, for a busy late night delivery shift. Furthermore, there is always a last minute delivery rush, for the late night food.
With this in mind, the pace of late night delivery tends to increase, rather than decrease. In fact, it is not uncommon to see a courier moving quickly while completing a late delivery. Not only is this to improve arrival times, but also because there is a shorter delivery window in the late hours. The delivery window is the time it takes a courier to reach the pickup location. Before it closes for the night.
The Best Late Night Food
Late night food is one of the perks of a delivery app. Once upon a time, pizza was about the only late night food available for delivery. Furthermore, the late night delivery was all about how late the pizza place stayed open. When most other merchants closed at nine or ten in the evening, the pizza joints were just getting started. In fact, some pizza brands ran delivery (and still do) into the wee hours of the morning.

Then came the delivery apps. With the advent of the delivery app, more merchants were able to participate in at home delivery. Not only was this a bonus for merchants, but also the at home customer. It meant more variety for at home delivery. However, there were very few merchants operating late at night. Most merchants were not set up for delivery. In fact, there was quite the learning curve as merchants began the process of prioritizing a delivery order.
Over time, things began to change. As the at home delivery became more popular through a delivery app, some merchants began adjusting business hours. There were only a few at first. Furthermore, it created a different kind of rush. A late night rush. Any merchant running late night food, expected a courier to show up, and make the delivery. The courier did not disappoint. The only drawback being that short delivery window.
A Short Delivery Window
Time is limited in the late night hours. Merchant staff have many things to do at the end of the night. Preparing the late night food, and closing the restaurant, is just a start. Therefore, every minute of the clock gets a lot of attention. With each one that passes, the store is closer to closing. Once the doors are locked, all bets are off. The delivery pickup will be unavailable. Especially if the merchant’s staff leave immediately after closing.
This is when the courier hustle is most important. Accepting the delivery from the queue is just the beginning. Then the courier must be sure to arrive before the delivery window closes. Careful consideration of the time it takes to travel to the pickup location, is a courier best practice. Knowing the general closing time of the merchants in the area, is another best practice. Combined, these two data points, can assist the courier in making the decision to, or not to accept that offer. Stay safe out there.
