The basic pay expectations of the better delivery
Few things speak to quality as much as a timely delivery. Add in some accuracy and things improve exponentially. And then, repeat the process endlessly, for best results. This is an ideal flow for the courier. Especially during the busiest of times. Furthermore, a quick pace means there is every opportunity for the courier to improve earnings. Then, with time and experience, a courier will develop certain pay expectations for a delivery shift.
The idea of pay expectations for the courier, comes through experience. Over the course of time a delivery side hustle develops patterns. For example, if the courier accepts deliveries from the delivery queue, in a delivery app, on a Monday night. Then the following Monday night will have similarities. There might be several repeat delivery drop-offs to the same location. Or perhaps there will be a certain group of merchants that have consistent delivery requests.
With this in mind, there is a certain amount of predictability the courier can count on. One key example of this is the evening delivery rush. It happens near the same time each evening. Additionally, different days have different versions of the evening rush. This means some evening rushes are more intense and last longer than others.
Basic Pay Expectations
Some evening rushes are more intense and last longer than others. This is especially true on a Friday night. A Friday night rush has more intensity than a Monday night rush. However, that condition can change. If a Monday is a holiday. As a general rule though, a courier is likely to see an increase in earnings on a Friday night. Particularly when compared against a Monday night.

What this means in terms of pay expectations, boils down to less or more. This is because tips are always unpredictable. As well as optional. Therefore, an accurate benchmark for a particular night, isn’t always precise. The courier ends up working with less or more. Monday night might be less than a Friday night. Likewise a Sunday night might be more than a Tuesday night.
Furthermore this formula prevails, even with a crew courier. Although there are POS systems to track delivery orders, a merchant has no system for predicting tips. Couriers keep track of tips, and pay. As well as expenses. However, they are also unable to predict potential tips. In fact, it’s not even possible to predict if one evening will be busier than another. The possible exception is Friday night. Yet there are times when a weekday night can easily compare with a Friday night.
A Better Delivery
The most conscientious couriers work for a better delivery experience. Providing a customer focused delivery experience is a way to achieve better than average ratings. Likewise, the earnings will begin to reflect the same. This is more of that consistency in delivery shifts. For example, the courier that drives every Monday night. That same courier also provides excellent service. Therefore that courier, will be well known, in that part of the delivery zone.
The predictability and reliability, for the delivery customer, inspires better than average tipping. The pay expectations will grow over time. For the courier. The consistency is a key part of the process. In other words, the courier shows up every Monday night. This gives the merchant more opportunities to prefer the courier. The preferred courier will likely receive more offers from that merchant. In the future.

Reliability and timely drop-offs. These are some of the goals a courier strives for to improve a delivery experience. Furthermore, it is how the courier develops a professional reputation in a delivery zone. And a delivery app. The consistency of the courier is a valuable asset for the courier’s pay expectations. Working for a better delivery is a great way to begin. Stay safe out there.
