Best road trip snacks to save a dollar or two
Every road trip is not the same. The road is always unpredictable. From weather events, to unforeseen traffic obstructions, almost anything can happen. Furthermore, planning for the unexpected road issue is a trait of the diligent courier. From first aid kits to road flares, preparation is key, when on the road. It is also a smart earnings strategy.
With this in mind, preparation isn’t just about vehicle maintenance. Which also includes fuel. It’s embarrassing to run out of fuel in the driveway of the delivery customer. It’s also rare, but it can happen. It helps to have a crew in a circumstance like that. Therefore, preparation is important. This gets into something more relatable, when considering the expense of a delivery.
Most couriers don’t want to spend more money than they make. However, this is actually easy to do. The solo courier using a delivery app can easily spend three hours on the road. During that time there could be a specialty beverage. ($8) Or a quick bite from a drive thru. ($12 to $15 average) Then, add in the cost of replacement fuel. And it’s no wonder earnings evaporate fast. They are leaking from the pockets.

Now that we’ve put a spotlight on the problem (not saving enough money) it’s possible to look at a few ways to cut back on those expenses. Firstly the eight dollar specialty beverage. Whether it be hot or cold it can dang sure be brought from home for pennies on the dollar. A travel cup, and freshly brewed coffee from home, costs much less.

That’s a savings of six dollars and fifty cents. Or one pizza delivery, 3.5 miles away. Did anyone hear that noise? There it is again! It’s a strange sound, however there’s no need for alarm, because it’s just the courier’s stomach growling. That happens when ferrying around all that delicious smelling food. Not to mention lunch time was nearly five hours ago. The problem is a drive thru will cost ten to fifteen bucks.
That would easily cancel the high mileage good tip delivery. The high priced drive thru food would last only minutes. The high mileage delivery took twenty three minutes. A sandwich from home is the solution. Or several sandwiches. With a few simple ingredients from the grocery store preparing sandwiches for the road is one of the best road trip snacks.

Or fifteen to twenty dollars. No matter how many, as long as there are savings, so much the better. It’s about putting more money in the pocket. And pulling less money from the pocket. The best road trip snacks (peanuts) come from the home base. Furthermore, one of the easiest ways to lose money is picking up extra things when buying fuel.

Everyone does it from time to time. That one candy bar that is new. Or the doughnuts in the case. (Especially the chocolate frosted ones) Or maybe it’s that gizmo that will do anything. And then it doesn’t. And the specialty five dollar energy drink is for later. For now, there’s still that eight dollar coffee to finish off.
Nevertheless, resisting all these fiscal temptations is about more than just will power. It’s also about an earnings strategy. Or, making each mile count. Minimizing expenses is the first way a courier increases earnings. Road trip snacks are an effective way to cut down on unnecessary spending. And save a dollar or two. Maybe more. Stay safe out there.
