A special look at the luck of the draw delivery
Do you believe in luck? Or maybe a better question is which one of these is more likely true – coincidence or predestined? Although this can be a source of disagreement, it’s hard to imagine there being no such thing as luck. Especially when it comes to a delivery. Ask any experienced courier about being lucky, and they will have a tale to tell. In fact, they may also point to something tangible carried on every delivery.
With this in mind, most couriers know about the luck of the draw delivery. This is a delivery that is based on luck. However, it is not exclusively about good luck. There are times when the luck of the draw, is more about the law of averages. This is particularly true in a crew environment.
Working with a crew dispatch board, is the essence of the luck of the draw. This is similar to any card game where there is a deck of cards to draw cards from. Since there will be at least two players, they will have to take turns drawing cards from the deck. Sometimes the draw is favorable, sometimes it’s not. However, the good ones can be a beacon of positive experience for the courier who draws them.
The Luck of the Draw Delivery
This is a very important delivery type for the crew courier. The solo courier has the luck of the draw delivery type as well. Although it isn’t as randomly cool, as it is in a crew environment. Solo couriers can decline deliveries but crew couriers must take turns. No skipping no exceptions.

While that system may sound arbitrary, it is the one of the best all around ways to keep things fair among a crew of couriers. Some crews have twenty, or more, drivers running at the same time. Therefore the dispatch board is a central component of putting all of the chaos into order. Once in a while the luck of the draw yields a fantastic experience. And it becomes a memorable delivery.
Furthermore, experienced couriers know that in a given zone it is only a matter of time before an address comes around again. That’s one of the top ways a courier makes money. Memorizing routes. Saving time.
What’s so special about luck?
At least that’s an easy one to answer. But whether it’s luck or good hustle, the luck of the draw, is where it all begins. It’s that one memorable experience. That one address that stands out. In fact, there are some deliveries that become memorable because of an impressive view. Whatever it is, the chances of it happening each time get exponentially better. Or so it seems.
A better than average tip is included in the luck of the draw delivery. Furthermore, just about every courier will hustle to maintain that premium delivery opportunity. It is also something the at home delivery customer appreciates. Win win all around. Stay safe out there.
