A better drone delivery and the f bomb traffic jam
Almost everyone enjoys the convenience of at home delivery. Just decide which restaurant fits the craving, and open a delivery app. Then complete the order. From there, a courier dispatches to deliver the order. A real human courier. The type that leaves the delivery at the door. Or, the type that knocks, and then hands the delivery to the delivery customer. The human is also adept at avoiding obstacles. Especially those pesky trip hazards in the dark.
With this in mind, it is interesting to watch drone delivery. There are a few videos of the drone prototypes. They are fascinating to watch. Furthermore, the videos show a particular style of drone. One that hovers, and then lowers the cargo to the ground. This delivery concept is unique. It adds another dimension to the at-home delivery model. Desert from above. Or, surface from air meals.
Additionally, some of the bigger freight companies like Amazon, are experimenting with drone delivery. The efficiency, and low cost of operating drones, are making them a viable go to option. Especially for large delivery companies like FedEx or UPS. Furthermore, the drones are only serving smaller areas. With close proximity to the companies they serve. The efficiency, and the overall time saved with drone delivery, is promising.
A Better Drone Delivery
A drone delivery is on the way. It will arrive at a designated time. Just like a courier. However, a drone will not encounter a traffic jam. Nor will the drone lose time with red lights and stop signs. From point A to point B is an absolute straight line for a drone. In fact, there are more than a few time saving advantages with drone delivery.

Every courier knows that every advantage must be used to make a timely delivery. There are no second chances. Once the hot fresh food has cooled, the need for speed, is a moot point. And that shouldn’t be confused with a moo point, which involves ice cream for delivery. Drones fly the way a crow flies. In a straight line. Therefore, the overall travel time for the drone is significantly less than a courier trying to navigate the open road.
And there are no red lights for the drone to observe. Or stop signs. It is a very efficient delivery system. However, it is also a limited delivery system. Especially when compared to the flexibility and problem solving skills of the courier. Similarly, not every drop-off location is an open space location. Therefore, hovering drones lowering the cargo to the ground with a cable system, will encounter challenges.
The F Bomb Traffic Jam
Sometimes predictable, a traffic jam can stall everything. Unlike a drone delivery, the courier must wait with the traffic. Sometimes it is a quick experience, and other times, it can absolutely tank a delivery. In fact, a fifteen minute delay, can set a courier back in more ways than one. Not only is the drop-off late, but also the hot fresh food is cooling rapidly. There goes any chance for a better than average tip.
It is almost impossible not to drop an f bomb when a traffic jam pops up. Additionally, the courier will likely have a customized version of the f bomb. There are many reasons why couriers avoid traffic jams. It is still an advantage to seek out the best route while picking up the delivery. Knowing the route ahead of time is a time saver. Additionally, it is a ratings saver.
With a GPS system it is possible to research multiple routes. Selecting the route with the least chance of delay, is a courier best practice. Furthermore, it maintains a standard of quality in the delivery. Stay safe out there.
