A basic tip calculator for the best delivery
The best delivery isn’t always the fastest. Sometimes it isn’t even the most customer friendly. Because, leave at the door. On a leave at the door drop-off there’s no customer to greet. There are no furbabies guarding the entryway. Nor are there any awkward conversations about messages, or unusual requests. In fact, the leave at the door delivery, is an easy win for the courier. Who could have thought leaving food on the floor, could be so…normal?
It wasn’t always that way. And no need to worry, this isn’t another flashback article. It’s a comparison. There is before the contactless delivery concept, and after the contactless delivery concept. These days, leave at the door, is merely an option. Not a mandate. Furthermore, it is useful for the at home customer who may not be home at the time of delivery. After all, the UPS driver and the FedEx driver, have been leaving packages at the door since before the dinosaurs. That may not be entirely accurate, but it’s relatively close.
With this in mind, it’s possible that not every customer uses a tip calculator. In fact, it’s almost a certainty. Many discussions on this topic have taken place away from the front porch. Couriers don’t usually spend time discussing the work on a customer’s front porch. That happens on the long wait for a delayed pickup. However, there are times when the tip calculator makes a difference. Particularly on larger deliveries. For example, a catering delivery.
A Basic Tip Calculator
This site offers a basic tip calculator and it can be found here. It requires manual operation. However, a more advanced and automated model, is on the way. It will have a featured article when ready. As mentioned earlier, couriers talk about the work, while waiting to complete the work. This is true of just about every courier. It isn’t often that solo couriers get the chance to compare notes. But when they do, they compare with all out honesty.

Furthermore, it is about money. Many couriers want to know if other couriers experience the same things. Especially, with particular apps. And it is a chance to learn how other couriers deal with issues in an app. Or, in some cases, particular areas in a zone. Of course, the merchant the courier is currently waiting for, is the main focus. For example, “Don’t worry, this merchant is usually fast on the catch up”. Or maybe it’s something like, “It’s typical to be waiting at this location”. Whatever the case may be, it’s an opportunity for an exchange of information.
Tips are a main topic in courier discussions. While many couriers are discreet, the tip is a part of most conversations. Furthermore, there is ample speculation on how a delivery tip applies to a delivery. For example, servers in restaurants see a percentage of the overall bill. In fact, almost every customer can determine a tip percentage based on traditional values. Such as fifteen or twenty percent of the overall bill. However, this isn’t the case for delivery drivers.
The Best Delivery
The beginning of this opinion article, is about the best delivery. There are differing opinions about what makes the best delivery. However, a timely and completely accurate delivery, wins just about every time. Couriers accept delivery offers from the delivery queue. Similarly, they know the tip from the get go. Furthermore, it is rarely percentage based. There just isn’t a standard formula for a delivery tip.
This is where a courier tip calculator makes a difference. A percentage based delivery tip is more common these days. Additionally, when the delivery is complete, additional tips are possible. An additional tip is a bonus. And it is a mark of customer appreciation. A worthy goal for every courier. Stay safe out there.
