Zone deliveries and out of zone drop-off locations
Delivery zones are not just an app feature. In fact, the crew courier also has a zone. It is the delivery merchant that sets the limits on their own delivery zones. The merchant has many things to consider when setting up a delivery zone.
For example, how long should the crew courier be on the road? What is the farthest the courier can travel before the mileage is excessive? These are just a few of the possible parameters a merchant might use to set up a delivery zone.
Zone Deliveries
Knowing the perimeter of the delivery area is an advantage for the crew courier. Deliveries are not usually accepted outside the delivery zone. With this in mind, it is an advantage for the crew courier to make fast completions. This strategy maximizes earnings in a short amount of time.
Furthermore, considering an out of zone delivery is risky for a merchant, it’s a rare thing. (Mostly they are denied.) Not only does this protect the merchant, but it also doesn’t upset the apple cart. Upsetting the apple cart is when everyone finds out the merchant delivered to the out of zone area. From that point forward everyone thinks the merchant will do it again. Even though it is out of the delivery zone.
The solo courier has a different setup for out of zone deliveries. In fact, in some ways there isn’t an out of zone delivery, so much as it’s just further away. However, as far as one app is concerned, out of the zone, is out of the zone. With this in mind, it is also an app with a plan.
The door dash app divides an area into zones. It is helpful for the courier to know the possible delivery area, or zone, that is being worked. Clearly there will be times the courier has to leave the zone. Furthermore, it is even more helpful to have a return delivery on the way back.
Additionally it is a benefit for the courier to know there is a delivery to return with. Especially on the way back to the original starting zone. Stay safe out there.
