Zeroing In on the Ghost Location
Those deep dark summer nights are some of the best nights for a long, leisurely drive. Many miles away from the nearest city lights and under a canopy of stars, the road carries on. The GPS destination is ahead on the right. Nevermind the dense forest all around. As far as the eye can see.
In this scenario, the navigation is with GPS, towards the little red dot on the cyber map. Additionally, when nearing that dot, it hovers away. Over there. Just over there, where there is a vacant lot, or deep dark forest. Likewise, a large body of water. Not only is it confusing, but also a time costing scenario as well. Furthermore, usually with a surprise ending.
So, what is a ghost location? It isn’t imaginary, however it can appear on a cyber map. On a real paper map, the location might just be unmarked, depending on the year the map was made.
Ghost Location
The cyber map is more straight forward, and gets to the point, literally. Having a tech edge is the bread and butter of location tracking. Simple and effective, it gets the job done, quickly. Sometimes so quickly, little details get left out. Such as the exact location.
During a couple of dinner rushes, I encountered several ghost location deliveries. Furthermore, it was possible to capture an example of one of the ghost locations, before finding the corporeal location.
After a few minutes of searching I located the private road, and found the drop off location. The GPS directions led to an empty lot. And this signaled a ghost location. However, this example is a small area. Some ghost locations can cover a broader area, and consume more time.
Navigation apps guide using the nearest known road. Especially if a location is far away from the main road. It can easily become a ghost location. Similarly with farms, or far away rural areas. Furthermore the navigation app will default to the nearest charted road, in relation to the physical address.
That can mean the possibility of a pond right about where that red dot is hovering. Therefore, staying alert is always important. Too bad there isn’t a company issued jetpack to speed things along! Stay safe out there.
