Why confirm now and then the tip monster roars
It started out as an unknown issue. Of course this was sometime ago. Back then there were still a lot of glitches in the system. The system of a delivery app. Then the world changed. The delivery app became a go-to service overnight. However, those glitches were still around. Therefore the courier would encounter a snag or snafu. Whatever the issue, it was a slow down. This delay had an impact that reverberated through the whole delivery.
Similarly, the courier arrives at the pickup location, only to discover the delivery is not there. The delivery left with a previous courier. This all too common scenario, created problems for more than the courier. It was a problem for the delivery app as well. Furthermore, in some cases, the cargo never made it to the drop-off location. This snafu is also one a courier might encounter at any time. On any delivery.
As it turns out, there was more, and less, to this glitch than it seemed. On the surface it appeared to be a technical issue. It was disconcerting to accept an offer that was not available when the courier arrived. Likewise, there was a loss of resources. Not to mention time. This glitch was a regular pain in the ass. It would be to everyone’s advantage to fix it. And the Confirm pickup button was a good place to start.
Why confirm now and then the tip monster roars
The Confirm pickup button, is the gateway to the address of the drop-off. When the pickup is confirmed, it means the courier has the cargo. Additionally, it signals the drop-off location that the cargo is on its way. Moreover, it is a fundamental step in the process. In some delivery apps the drop-off location address is not visible until the confirm pickup button has been selected.
With this in mind, many merchants are now requesting the courier to confirm the delivery, before leaving with it. It is a small step. However, it will save an enormous amount of time and resources. It is already having an impact. The glitch has continued to diminish. The amount of times the delivery cargo is unaccounted for has dropped noticeably. Thanks to the confirm now approach.
This is also a reason why the courier will notice more merchants asking for confirmation of the pickup. Meanwhile, at the pickup, a courier laments. There is worry about a low tip. There are low voiced grumblings and comparisons. And more than once, the courier heaves a heavy sigh. If only the app had bigger tips.
Tips are optional. Furthermore, in a delivery app, they are included in the offer. When a courier accepts an offer from the queue, the tip is part of the payout. From the delivery customer. The app isn’t paying the courier a tip. The customer is paying a tip. The customer might tip more next time, if the service this time, is above par. Sometimes it’s like a spinning wheel. Stay safe out there.
