Which one is better, meet at the door, or leave at the door?
It’s not always easy to make it to the door. Sometimes it’s quite an obstacle course. This is something a courier contends with on every delivery. Most of us know our own front porches. Or lack thereof. The same is true for the yard. It’s a personal thing and everyone is different. Some porches have furniture and other porches have gates for furbabies. However, the one thing they all have in common is the front door.
With this in mind, the courier’s business is with the front door. Furthermore, the default delivery place is always the front door. Delivery customers will add special instructions for other drop off locations. Therefore, when a courier arrives at any location, the natural course of action, is to zero in on the obvious front of the structure. The front door is the main focus. From there it’s about the doorbell. Is there one? And does it work?

It isn’t a deal kill, if the doorbell isn’t working. The courier can always knock. And then knock again if needed. However, if it’s a leave at the door delivery, one knock is enough. The only time more effort is needed to get someone to the door, is if someone wants to meet at the door.
Meet at the Door
This is a good thing. Except for the doorbell not working, the delivery goes much smoother. Furthermore, the courier can rest easy knowing the delivery made it to the drop-off customer. Likewise, there is an opportunity to interact with the customer. The interaction can be as simple as a formal greeting, but it makes a world of difference. With a polite disposition, the courier can create a professional delivery experience, for every customer.
On the other hand, a leave at the door drop-off can also be a professional experience. Even without customer interaction on the front porch. In fact, the courier still has to make it to the front door. Additionally, the delivery cargo must be placed in a safe place away from immediately in front of the door. But still close enough for convenience. From here the courier takes an in-app picture, and the delivery is complete.
There are differences between both forms of the drop-off. The solo courier will encounter a healthy dose of both styles. However, it will be the type of delivery that ultimately determines which one the courier will be doing. For example, the alcohol delivery. That is a meet at the door delivery, every time. Stay safe out there.
