Unexpected dropoff: That time the road disappeared
The holiday season is well under way! The intensity and the sheer busy flow, of this season, have been off the charts! Furthermore, the volume of deliveries is holding steady and even on the increase! When the courier must turn down one or two offers, business is good!
With this in mind, it’s possible to clear a series of deliveries and minimize snags! When the courier is achieving completions without snags, completion times, improve overall.
Improved completion times, benefit more than just a courier. Improved completion times, are a result of thoroughness and determination at each step along the way. Not only hustle, but also follow through.
However, snags are tough to avoid. It’s easy to get snagged by a snag. The trick is getting around it quickly. Sometimes this is an obvious fix. Other times nothing makes sense and the courier will be faced with a savage paradox.
Now it’s serious, because an incomplete delivery, is the same as being left holding the bag. It’s incomplete. Thanks to a snag, a savage time paradox is beginning. If left unchecked it can spin time out of control! Not only is the cargo waiting but it is also cooling. The heat is not on.
The Road Disappeared
For example, in the screenshot, the courier (me) is almost at the destination. It appears as though this delivery is in the bag…so to speak. In the cyber map view, the courier is within a few blocks of the destination.
Easy peasy, almost time for the smoke break! The trip back out will be an excellent time for some coffee as well. Alternatively, just around the bend, there was another option. In this pic, there are real time obstacles that are not present in the cyber map view.
Furthermore, a message to the dropoff location was in queue and unanswered. So. A snag. No callbox, no key, no code. Just a snagged courier, still several blocks from the dropoff.
After some study and a small process of elimination, the cause of the snag was located! The address was in a location that had undergone new construction recently. There was a hidden connector road that had just been opened in the subdivision further down the main road.
The road is still pending its inclusion on the map! Until then it will be just a shade of itself! Improbable but not impossible. A snag but not a stymy. This was an excellent reminder to leave no stone unturned. Stay safe out there.
