Traffic congestion to city growth, courier wit to the rescue
Traffic is a way of life for those making a living on the road. Whether in the suburbs, or in the city center, there is always a chance for a traffic jam. At some point in time, and space, there will be a slow down, and a wait. Then ease forward, and then wait again. Then repeat for the next fifteen minutes.
After that brief look at the inner workings of traffic jam hell, it feels like a break is well deserved. Additionally, even seasoned drivers can feel the effects of an increase in traffic load. For example, someone driving for pay, in a city they grew up in, will notice the changes in traffic load. Especially in crowded intersections. Also the pace of all traffic runs slow. This is prime time for the traffic lights to get their revenge.
Traffic congestion
The revenge part is purely speculation. A courier’s thoughts. However, it’s possible that no one knows. Yet something is going on. Those lights are letting three cars through, and then it’s back to red. Oh, for the wide open spaces, on the outskirts of the city. Running swiftly under the open sky and in the fresh air.
Must remember to check the map before the route selection, next time. Thereby, avoiding the stalled traffic. Most of the time there is a workaround for avoiding known traffic jams. This isn’t about the sudden jams caused by accidents. This is about known, traffic issues. The courier benefits by staying updated, on the most current traffic conditions.
With many road work projects, traffic lanes shift, and condense. Or they close in some cases. Therefore, traffic congestion is a given. One strategy in use, under these conditions, is zone planning. If the courier is going to be running deliveries during rush hour, selecting beneficial routes is important. Different zones, have different traffic patterns, on different roads. At different times. Nothing says random like a whole bunch, of different.
With this in mind, it is up to the courier to determine which merchants are running with a crew that stays ahead of the rush. However, the way to this knowledge is by trial and error. Experienced couriers learn the merchant crews, and their strong times and slow times. This knowledge serves best when selecting offers from the queue.
City growth
The inverse is also something to consider. For example, merchants prioritizing delivery. Even when business has fallen off. Particularly, if business has fallen off. All of this is just the beginning of a traffic congestion slow down. Avoiding it, if possible, will help bring about a series of successful delivery completions. Stay safe out there.
