Thumbs Up the Good Pickup
Over the course of time couriers begin to develop a system of preferred techniques, routes, merchants, and in some cases, gas stations. The system usually makes for the bread and butter of a driving shift. It’s the known gamble.
For the solo driver these systems will vary depending on the area, and region. In the case of my preferred city, some merchants only have one location. A particular setup that works on one side of the city may not work on the other.
Good Flow
At times a particular set of circumstances can be relied upon to help with the flow of a good driving shift. Perhaps one merchant is able to accurately gauge each delivery so that the pickup is ready before the courier arrives, every time.
There can also be an excellent zone that has elements of speedy route selection, and traffic shortcuts. This makes each run marginally more predictable and efficient. It also reduces the amount of time needed for arrival at the pickup location.
With each advantage, that a courier can obtain, the overall quality of the driving shift improves.
The courier does the courier work, and gets the job done quickly, so the next can be accepted and started. Getting quickly from one to the next, is also an excellent way to keep the offers happening.
Depending on the time of day and the day, some merchants will have every pickup ready as soon as the courier arrives. This is an important step in the delivery process, and is golden for a courier.
Compliment
One of the delivery apps has an additional feature that is a helpful and constructive tool. It helps the merchant with the app and helps the app with the merchant. All while helping the courier move to the next.
It’s the thumbs up feature. It is there at the pickup section of the app, on a live delivery. The feature also includes a thumbs down option, but that option will be discussed in the next article. The feature is more than a simple like or acknowledgement.
It is also a time management tool, that provides valuable real time feedback. It is possible to give a thumbs up on every pickup, but not always warranted. In cases where the pickup goes very well, the thumbs up feature is an excellent way to let the app know.
This also gives the merchant real time feedback on the effectiveness of the delivery preparation and readiness. In other words, it’s a good shout out to the merchant crew. The thumbs up lets the merchant, and the app, know the system is working, and working very well.
This has the added benefit of a compliment, to a team that has hit the mark, and gone beyond. The feedback will also help improve future offers and times for the courier. This is one where everybody wins from sharing the love.
