The weekend rush and betting on the good stuff
It’s that time of week again. Tgif! The weekend has arrived! Couriers near and far are celebrating the event with full tanks of gas and a packed lunch. The tires have been checked, and aired if needed. Now the rush is on.
With this in mind it is helpful to know that Friday night is also alright. Furthermore, Friday night is a large part of the weekend. It is possible to predict the rush potential of Sunday night. And unless it is a holiday, or the Superbowl, it will be a less impressive earnings night than Friday night.
The Weekend Rush
Clearly this means the better opportunities for increased earnings are Friday and Saturday night. Respectively. Therefore, the increased business is the good stuff. It is a positive earnings opportunity for the courier.
This is an absolute for the crew courier. Not only are Friday night and Saturday night the biggest earners, but also the busiest. Additionally, they have a greater volume of available deliveries. Indeed, this is one reason why merchants prefer weekend availability.
It should be noted that Saturday night has a greater potential for increased deliveries. The unofficial reasoning is that the weekend is underway. Friday evening is still the celebration of the end of the workweek.
Furthermore, dinner plans are more common after the work day has come to an end. Therefore there is less of a span of prime delivery time, due to the half-weekend status of Friday.
Clearly Friday night is still a powerhouse for the rush. Also, it can carry on late into the night. Especially, in the summer months. Therefore it is important to consider Friday night a part of weekend work.
The Good Stuff
In addition to the concept of the weekends being the bread and butter for the courier the inverse is also true. The middle of the week is often the slow time for deliveries. Therefore, the courier will experience slow time, or even down time. Depending on the delivery season.
With this in mind it becomes easier to see why the weekend matters to the courier’s bottom line. Not only is it fiscally smart to work the weekend, but also the better part of a courier’s paycheck. Stay safe out there.
