The unwanted delivery and the wanted undelivery
Welcome. And welcome back to the new season fast approaching! As the pace of deliveries picks up to keep up, strange things will occur. Furthermore, strange and unexpected.
Not only will strange things occur on the roads, but also in deliveries. New couriers, experiencing a first holiday season in deliveries, will encounter snafus.
A snafu can happen at any time, and when it’s a delivery, it’s not a matter of if but when. The mark of a good courier is keeping the snafus from influencing a completion. Similarly, accepting offers with few potential snafus, is an acquired skill.
Unwanted Delivery
The criteria for accepting delivery offers, is unique to each courier. For example, a courier may prefer to stay in a certain area. And therefore, only accept offers located in that area.
Still, other couriers, may prefer a particular merchant and only accept those offers. This criteria can even be applied to a particular type of delivery. For example, grocery deliveries, or people deliveries.
The criteria the courier uses, to choose an offer, is an acquired skill. The declined offer is the unwanted delivery, and will be requeued.
When offers are being presented in the apps, they have a guaranteed payout. This is the guaranteed pay the courier will get for the delivery. The offer that is presented in the app will include the tip, or it will not.
When the offer has no tip applied, the offer screen will have some form of notice:
*Offer does not include tip, payout may be higher.
Wanted Undelivery
Similarly, when the offer includes the tip, there will be a notice of the included tip. This is a good time for the courier to consider accepting the offer. Higher paying offers, are less likely to remain in queue.
Once the courier has accepted the offer, and is on the way to the pickup location, the offer will be ready, or almost so. The ideal delivery is timed, so that courier and cargo, meet without waiting.
Once the courier arrives at the pickup location the delivery can commence. Unless it’s an undelivery. If the cargo is an undelivery, it is the wanted undelivery. Because it is missing.
There are numerous reasons this happens, and none of them are cool, when the courier is there and the cargo isn’t. The offer will have to be cancelled, and the courier will have to return to the hunt, empty handed.
It’s all good courier, more hands for the wheel. Stay safe out there.
