The truth about the highest paying delivery
One thing common to all deliveries, is the delivery completion. It is the culmination of effort, and planning. An exercise in persistence, and follow through. And this is every time. Most couriers are looking to complete as many deliveries as possible. In as little time as possible. Therefore each delivery is a new opportunity to improve. As well as a chance at making money.
Working to make ends meet. That is the essence, behind the effort, in the delivery. Be it package courier, or hot fresh food courier, the goal is to make money. Also known as making ends meet. Hot fresh food couriers have an opportunity for an increase in earnings through tips. However tip income is not a consistent income. There are good days, and there are bad days, when it comes to tips.
This is actually a routine song and dance for the solo courier. (Solo courier = gig work courier) Crew couriers also deal with the ups and downs of tip income. In fact, the reliability of a delivery zone can almost be predictable over the course of time. Crew couriers learn the area, and the customers in the area. Therefore knowing about the highest paying delivery is a given.
The Highest Paying Delivery
Although it may seem impossible, memorizing an area the size of a small city, is easy. Especially over the course of time. In fact, couriers develop an ability to visualize and see an area in their mind. It is an actual thing. Especially for route drivers. For example, a quick Google search returned the following info:
Increased Hippocampal Volume:
Studies have shown that London taxi drivers, who undergo rigorous training to memorize city streets (“The Knowledge”), have a larger hippocampus compared to people with other professions, indicating enhanced spatial memory capabilities due to their job demands.
The study goes on to say there was an increase in the size of the Hippocampus, the brain region responsible for spatial memory and navigation. And this occurs due to the constant need to memorize routes and landmarks. Therefore a crew of couriers is aware of the highest paying delivery. And most likely when it will occur.
The Truth About Delivery
If this were about comparing the solo courier and the crew courier, the solo courier has the edge on this one. Although this edge is more of a mindset. The solo courier knows the payout of a delivery when accepting the offer from the queue. Although there are high paying offers from the queue, the courier isn’t associating the highest paying delivery, with a specific customer.

Compare this with the crew environment, where a delivery area is fixed, and well known. The highest paying delivery is usually associated with a specific address. When it’s courier Bill’s turn (and that particular address is up on the dispatch board) then Bill will have a chance at the highest paying delivery. If Bill is cool, and diligent, it may be Bill’s highest paying delivery. If Bill is not cool, it may not be Bill’s highest paying delivery.
The Highest Paying Delivery
In other words, if Bill puts in the effort, the delivery will continue to be the highest paying delivery. However, it’s important to remember the crew courier is delivering in a static delivery zone. It is a fixed zone. Therefore the highest paying delivery is an earned thing. It means the entire crew of couriers worked diligently, over time, to inspire a high tipping customer.
This can also happen with a solo courier. Occasionally a high paying offer finds its way to the courier. Most solo couriers snap that gravy up in a flash. Not only is it a high paying delivery, but also it’s a chance to earn the vote of confidence, from the customer. Definitely a win win. Stay safe out there.
