The traffic jam delivery and the best foot forward
Drivers on the road to make a living, often see peculiar road conditions. In fact, it isn’t uncommon to see vehicles upside down. And where they don’t belong. Sometimes it’s just one vehicle. Other times it’s two, or more. Then there is the ever present road construction. Always found on the absolute busiest road. At the busiest time of day. This type of road activity can get extreme at times.
With this in mind, let’s talk about the elephant in the room. Or the front seat. Whichever the case may be. This is something everyone using the road contends with at one time or another. Furthermore, there’s no way to avoid it. However, plenty of traveling souls try. It’s a traffic jam. And they can happen from out of nowhere.
Not only can they appear suddenly, but also they can be at a standstill. The unsuspecting courier trying to make up some time, recognizes this event as the spoiler. It can spoil the whole delivery. Getting stuck in a stand still line of cars is bad enough, but doing so with hot fresh food that’s rapidly cooling, is worse.
The Traffic Jam Delivery
Rapidly cooling food, and standstill traffic, do not mix. Furthermore, almost every courier tries to avoid a standstill. However, there are times when real time info might lag. Just a little. Therefore, even a GPS map might not know about the current traffic jam. This is a matter of timing. And there are other phenomena to consider as well.

For example, the traffic jam created by the wave effect. This happens from a simple sudden slow down. The sudden drop in the speed of the flow creates a traffic wave. The wave of suddenly slowed vehicles, runs backward. This wave effect can create a traffic jam from thin air.
This means a mapping system may not pick up on the cause of the traffic jam. In fact, the system may not see the jam at all. Particularly if it’s able to work in real time. Furthermore, the traffic jam will clear itself naturally. It might take some time though. This is when the best foot forward will come in handy.
The Best Foot Forward
Once stuck in the traffic jam, the work begins in earnest. Alerting the drop-off location should be the number one priority. Although they may see the courier on the tracker, the traffic might be invisible. From there the courier can maintain steady contact for best results.
Searching for a way around the traffic jam is also a good idea. However, it might not matter if it’s a highway with no turnaround. It will come down to patience. And steady communication. The delay is less noticeable when the customer is in the loop. This is one way to put the best foot forward with the traffic jam delivery. Stay safe out there.
