It has been said that timing is everything. Timing is one of the most important components of a good delivery. With this in mind, it is important for the courier to strive for timely pickups and drop-offs.
Once upon a time (flashback alert) the courier would take the cargo from the merchant as soon as it was ready. It was a secret courier agenda for a good tip. Deliver the food when it is hot and fresh. This little super tip went a long way toward a better customer experience.
The Timing of the Quality
The customer experience is one of the couriers top opportunities to influence a delivery. One of the ways a courier can influence a delivery is by a timely completion. This is always possible except when it’s not.
That certainly sounds confusing. Similarly, when it happens it is confusing. ‘It’ is when a delivery gets slowed down for an unforeseen reason. Not only does it slow things down but also it can cool things down.
In fact, delays are a part of the job. Therefore the way to get around them, is mindfulness. However, being prepared is just as important as being in the moment. With this being said, from pickup of the cargo, to delivery of the same, the courier’s attention should be fixed.
After the delivery is complete, the courier will have time for details unrelated to the completion. The priority should be, from merchant to customer, asap. In this way the courier makes the best attempt at a quality delivery. The quality in the delivery shows. It matters on the other side of the door.
Fresh Food
Hot fresh food is preferable. Consider the hot fresh pizza ads with a steaming slice of pizza being lifted from the pie. There are hot, strings and strands of melted cheese being stretched thin, as the slice of pizza is pulled away!
And steam! Lots of heat created, pizza steam! This is possible because of the heat. Furthermore, the hotter the better. Same goes for the hand off at the door! The hotter the cargo is, the better for everyone! Stay safe out there!
