The stacked delivery and how to quality watch
The dinner rush is an excellent time to make delivery completions. It is a very busy time of day for a merchant. Therefore, it can also be busy for the courier. When the courier has a dinner rush to run, time is a valuable commodity. Each step in the delivery process has a time limit. The courier must also keep an eye on the expected drop-off time. Having an overview of the delivery progress, is one way to improve the overall quality of the delivery.
With this in mind, improving the quality of a delivery doesn’t have to be a complicated process. In fact, it can be as simple as being on time. Nothing says quality delivery, like an on time delivery. Furthermore, a timely delivery creates a positive delivery experience. This positive experience is reflected in good courier ratings, and potentially increased earnings through higher tips.
The process just described, is under ideal circumstances. When things are flowing smoothly, focusing on providing quality service is easy. However, there are times when the pace of the delivery rush is beyond routine. For example, continuous offers of stacked delivery trips. The opportunity to take multiple deliveries on a single trip, is called a stacked delivery. This is one way a courier can increase earnings on a single run.
The stacked delivery and how to quality watch
A stacked delivery can be a bonus. Likewise, it can become a losing proposition with the greatest of ease. A typical delivery is standard. It is manageable and, for the most part, predictable. However the odds of a snafu, or slow down, increase when there is more than one delivery to deliver.
Furthermore, there are the routes to consider. For each additional delivery in the stack, the courier must have a plan. Without a basic navigation plan, the chance of wasted resources increases, exponentially. Therefore the courier must visualize the entire route on a stacked delivery. This includes traffic delays and detours. This also means an extra minute of two going over the details of the routes, and drop-off locations.
Not all delivery apps are the same. A particular feature available in one delivery app, may not be available in a similar app. For example, being able to toggle between live deliveries. Since a delivery app proceeds with a step by step process the courier must complete something particular, before moving to the next step. toggling between deliveries allows the courier to set the order of the drop-offs.
The Bypass Rule
A stacked delivery should be about efficiency. A courier with multiple deliveries will have multiple drop-offs. One of the things a courier should try to avoid is bypassing one drop-off location, to get to the other. Then backtracking to the first drop-off that was previously bypassed. Or ignored. Or left watching the little red courier dot on the map, bypass them.
Checking the routes of each drop-off location, will signal to the courier whether the delivery routes intersect. If the courier is using a delivery app that allows toggling between live deliveries, there is no need to bypass a waiting drop-off customer. Just to turn around and come back a few minutes later. Best to clear the deliveries along the way. This does help completion times. Furthermore, it increases customer satisfaction.
The stacked delivery is a bonus and a challenge. Moreover with patience and follow through, the stacked delivery can be as routine as any other delivery. The experienced courier will know how important the quality watch can be. It is also about ensuring the correct cargo reaches the correct drop-off location. More on that in upcoming articles. Stay safe out there.
