The snow fall drop-off – Tales of the Courier
It’s always welcome but never on time. 1courier shifts lanes and pushes the ride even faster. This was going to be a close one. The ride picks up speed, and races toward the horizon with reckless abandon. 1courier can’t help but grin. He was blaming his reckless abandon on the ride. But it was actually from both of them.
Nevertheless, reckless abandon was what it would take, to meet this deadline. He knew better than to accept offers that were not fully vetted. Especially with all the snow fall. However, this one had a certain lure he could not ignore. Maybe it was the location of the pick up. Or maybe there was something in the drop-off. Either way, 1courier accepted the offer, and stepped right into a pile of, oh snap.
For one thing, the delivery was late. It hasn’t even started, and the delivery is already behind. Furthermore, there is some discrepancy on the drop-off. It isn’t adding up. He has a no contact order. And a special note instructing him to, “hand it to me.” Of course that’s not contradictory. He supposes it is possible to toss everything…
The snow fall drop-off
Large chunks of the pie are splattered all over the place. And the soup container busted wide open. The hot soup sprayed everywhere, and the steam from the heat, is warm and aromatic. All the appetizers are scattered across the porch and the entrees are now cooling in the fresh snow. No. 1courier is pretty sure tossing it won’t work.
The road begins to get rougher as he moves toward the drop-off location. Soon there will be more snowfall than the ride can manage. 1courier is almost certain he will have to turn back, when the drop-off location, finally comes into view. He parks the ride on the road, and double checks the details. And the conundrum still holds. He is to hand it to someone, without making contact with someone.
Fortunately, this is something that happens all the time. Occasionally. Therefore he is ready with a plan. He walks to the other side of the ride and slips while opening the door. He falls squarely on his ass, and then slides halfway under the ride. In less than a second, he is laying on his back, gazing up at the falling snowflakes.
Tales of the Courier
Three minutes later, he is on the move again. He wishes he was having a no contact delivery. He is still smarting from his embarrassing show back on the street. The snowfall is getting heavier, as he makes his way to the front porch. Additionally he can see the surveillance doorbell button. He is seconds away from home free.
The snowball pops him from the side. It sprays snow as another snowball hits him in the back. 1courier spins around to see who is launching this attack but the coast is clear. He can see no one. However, he can hear what sounds like muffled giggling. He grins, and as he approaches the door, he does so cautiously. And while walking backwards. Indeed, this was no longer a no contact delivery.
As he nears the door, he is acutely aware that he is being watched. He pushes the button and listens to the tuneful chime of the doorbell. Seconds away. Just mere seconds, and he would be back on the road again. He is instructed to leave it at the door. He is good with the plan, and continues to watch his six, as he places the cargo at the door. Then a quick pic for the confirmation. All set. 1courier steps down from the porch back into the snow fall, and *poof!
*Poof. The courier steps off the porch, and steps under a falling shelf of snow from the roof. He is covered from head to toe. Only the top of his hat is visible. There are more muffled giggles from close by. And the snow continues to fall.
