The rush of the evening and why colder is better
It’s late evening and the cold has settled in. The mission is to keep cargo warm, and the courier as well. The later it gets, the busier, and colder it gets. The offers coming in, are further and further away.
This is the rush of the evening, and depending on the day, (and weather) it will run steady. With little or no down time. Furthermore, the late evening and early morning hours are not exempt from this action. The early morning hours after midnight, not the predawn hours.
This is the time when the courier can boost earnings and improve the day’s overall income. With back to back deliveries, and stacked deliveries, and even back to back stacked deliveries, the courier will see an increase in opportunities.
Evening Rush
With an increase in opportunities, the courier will see a possible increase in earnings. It is widely speculated that the plunging temperatures have influenced the surge in delivery offers. While this might or might not be true, it certainly appears the plunging temps have created a surge in cold weather gear!
The colder temperatures add challenges to delivery completions. However, the colder temps also create unexpected advantages for the courier. One of the top advantages is a decrease in late night road traffic. This is an advantage, and helps with completing dropoffs in a timely manner.
Decreased traffic is easier on the ride. The courier will see faster completion times, because the routes are less congested. With faster completion times, comes more availability, for additional offers.
Moreover, this means less traffic in general, as the evening rush progresses. Drive thru lanes, and waiting areas for couriers, are less congested. These are favorable conditions for the courier to improve earnings.
Finally, the cold weather and seasonal events are also favorable conditions for the courier. As delivery apps become more widely used, the courier will continue to see an increase in potential earnings. Stay safe out there.
