The one of a kind high test delivery vehicle
Running deliveries is a fast paced process. Fortunately there are vehicles that can manage it. For example, a Lamborghini. The problem with a Lamborghini is that not every courier can afford one. Nor does every courier have a magical money account to secretly pull money from. This means that most couriers bring their own vehicle to the table. And in some cases it’s unique.
In fact, it is a one of a kind high test delivery vehicle. Especially a vehicle used by the experienced courier.
Once upon a time (on the road) there were sleepers. This type of vehicle started showing up in the era of muscle cars. Some were obvious hot rods. Loud and fast with performance tires. Those hot rods were ready to race. Furthermore, everyone could plainly see the car was built for powerful speed. Therefore, only other hot rods would dare compete.

Until the sleeper came along. This unassuming beast was like kryptonite to the obvious hot rod. Usually quiet, and always an unlikely model, the sleeper car was a hot rod in disguise. Furthermore, it was unique in many ways. Only a dedicated, and well versed car owner, would build something so cleverly hidden and so fast.
High Test Delivery Vehicle
Most hot fresh food couriers use a personal vehicle to complete deliveries. They also need to achieve more than one delivery in a shift, to develop a paycheck. Therefore a courier’s vehicle must be reliable. However, as mentioned earlier, not every courier has a new vehicle, or Cyber Truck. With this in mind, proactive vehicle maintenance is the secret weapon most couriers use to stay ahead of the curve. So to speak.
That is one of the top priorities of the experienced courier. In fact, that’s one reason why the experienced courier, is the experienced courier. The high test delivery vehicle is unique. Likewise, it’s a sure bet, the experienced courier knows that ride inside and out.
It’s a matter of long hours spent on the road together. Every sound, every vibration felt and heard. Even the slightest deviation, could indicate an issue. Then, back at the house, going over the ride with a fine toothed comb. (It’s an expression, not a literal comb) Double checking the fluids. Checking each tire for the correct pressure. And a basic feel test for each tire, to check for road debris embedded in the rubber. This is standard care for the high test delivery vehicle.
The One of a Kind
This attention to vehicle detail is a necessary part of the job. It doesn’t have to be, but the vehicle won’t last without it. Couriers drive hundreds of miles, sometimes daily. Excessive vehicle wear, is part and parcel of being a delivery driver. However, attention to maintenance, especially daily, is an effective way to mitigate some of the wear and tear on the vehicle. Stay safe out there.
