The on time delivery and offering the best quality
The delivery game is more than an adventure. It is also a job. There are different ways to work as a courier. However, each one comes to a similar process. Pick up something at point A, and deliver it to point B. As fast as legally possible.
The process has become so streamlined it can be timed. Furthermore, those times can be used as benchmarks to create incentives. For improved times. Similarly, the drop-off location benefits from the improved times. Everyone likes an on time delivery.
The on time delivery
With this in mind, most everyone appreciates quality delivery. This includes things like remembering sauce packets and napkins. And double checking for drinks and desserts. Then following along with any special requests, or where to leave the drop-off.
Meanwhile, a clock is ticking somewhere. It will get a slight bump backwards, as soon as the next button is clicked. This will free the courier to accept a new delivery. Then, on to the next. The goal is to be, the on-time delivery.
The crew courier has an advantage in this area. Not only is the crew courier part of the crew, the delivery is coming from, but also has a front row seat. In other words the crew courier knows exactly when the cargo will be ready for transport. The solo courier is reliant upon the merchant crew for details.
Now the solo courier has to wait for a delivery. While that may seem like a lesson in patience for the benefit of the courier, it isn’t. The order should be waiting for the courier. Not the other way around. Snafus happen, but a consistent snafu issue is not cool.
Offering the best quality
This information comes from delivery customers. It isn’t uncommon for a delivery customer to receive the delivery, two hours or more, after the initial order. This is not an on time delivery. This isn’t a decent experience either. Particularly considering it is a hot fresh food delivery. Respectively.
After a two hour delay, the concept or idea of convenience, is out the door. The courier shouldn’t be a part of a delay like this. Therefore looking for the penalty free unassign feature, should be the goal. Especially when a delivery pickup stalls.
Another important question is how long should the courier wait? Particularly after the penalty free unassign has been triggered. That is up to the courier. Some offers are worth the wait while others are best released back into the queue. This is an added part of the courier’s list.
If you are a courier and you aren’t working with a list, you are missing out. This is a little known courier secret and will be in the next article. Until then, stay safe out there.
