The most important delivery

Welcome back to the Virtual Dispatch. Did anyone else enjoy the Wednesday night rush? Depending on the state the courier is in, that could be the question of the day! Or the year. The weather is always a consideration in the delivery game. Always.

Not only can the weather be a consideration, but also a challenge. With this in mind, weather planning is part of a successful delivery shift. Staying alert as well. This can be important when it matters most. At the least.

The Most

Every delivery isn’t the one that wows with a big tip. Similarly, every delivery shift isn’t a smooth stretch of highway. Not even close. Sometimes there just isn’t a big tip. Other times every run is into the back roads where most all the potholes live. And sometimes no tip.

The truth is, delivery driving is similar to treasure hunting. And sometimes a lot of holes have to be dug before any treasure is found. The solo courier must stay alert when considering offers. There are only seconds to consider if the offer will benefit the courier. Or not.

This article is a collection of thoughts from experiences. No courier wants to spend an evening making less money than possible. Especially after investing money in the process. In fact, the best possible outcome is preferred. Every time.

Important delivery

So, what does the best possible outcome mean? To answer that, we must ask, when is a delivery the most important delivery? And the two questions are not mutually exclusive. In fact they run fairly parallel.

The best possible outcome is always a safely completed delivery. In the same way, the most important delivery, is the safely completed delivery. This ties in nicely with the weather alert from earlier in this article.
