The last minute delivery and why it is popular
The last minute delivery is real. It is in demand and is becoming more frequent. Couriers that deal with late deliveries, see a lot of this type of delivery. It isn’t new, and it can often be expected. Especially right around closing time.
Late night delivery is a popular service. Not only does it offer convenience, but also a measure of quality. Or that is one of the hopes that drive the concept. In addition to healthy appetites. Furthermore it is a given that late night delivery, of hot fresh food, is limited to merchant availability.
Some merchants have limited late night hours. Sometimes it can be due to brand restrictions. Other times the merchant is missing an employee. Or two. Therefore, the later it gets the thinner the amount of offers in the queue.
The last Minute delivery
However the pace of the late night, last minute delivery, is still extreme. Additionally there are more than a couple of reasons why the last minute delivery is so popular. The most basic one is the freshness guarantee. There really is No guarantee. However, the unspoken hope is that this is the case.
For example, getting the order to the merchant just minutes before store closing, means the food will be hot and fresh when the courier arrives for pickup. This is a theoretical approach to getting hot fresh food. Furthermore, it may even have some merit as a workable theory.
However, it also creates a ripe situation for a backfire depending on the merchant. There are merchants that cutoff deliveries thirty minutes before closing. Still others set this mark at forty five minutes. There are many reasons why a merchant has a standard closing time.
With this in mind. it is not uncommon for a delivery request, to have time restrictions. Especially those set in place by the merchant. Additionally some late night delivery requests are simply that. Late night requests for food delivery. This is very likely if there are factories and other second and third shift work places nearby.
Why so popular?
In this scenario the courier is the chance at a better than average lunch on the night shift. It’s no wonder late night delivery is gaining in popularity. There are many reasons why a late night delivery may be a preferred delivery. Therefore it benefits the courier to expedite the late night deliveries as quickly as possible.
Not only will this benefit the courier but also the drop-off location. For example, if the delivery recipient is going on a lunch break. And at the same time, the courier arrives with the delivery. This is a positive timing event. This is something both couriers and delivery recipients, appreciate. Stay safe out there.
