The holdout delivery and how to talk to AL
It’s the last hour of the night. Once the offer is accepted it will only leave room for one other delivery. Push the play button because it’s the one. It only took three rejected offers to get a more suitable one. Time to make some time.
Although it’s near the end of the shift, the much improved offer will make for a strong finish. This is a bread and butter move at the end of the night. With this in mind, there is a possible chance to repeat this scenario. Completing the current offer quickly will be best.
The Holdout Delivery
The completed offer had a few highlights. There were two red lights that turned green before a full stop was needed. A favorite song on the radio. Regular radio. (The kind with commercials and sports.) And more favorite songs.
With this in mind, it became a delivery completed in the allotted time. Therefore plenty of time was left to consider an additional delivery offer. This time it only took one rejected offer before the appropriate delivery appeared in the queue.
It looked as though AL finally understood what parameters this courier was working with. In the previous hour it had taken four rejected offers to get two that had the desired parameters. Of course this was in one hour. The previous three hours were filled with numerous rejected offers.
Furthermore, there were also a couple of less than opportune deliveries. A less than opportune delivery helps to get AL’s attention again. It can sometimes be a back and forth deal. With this in mind, the last hour was shaping up to be a positive earnings experience.
How to talk to AL
AL is the algorithm. It reverberates through the app and tickles and pops its way in and out. Additionally it isn’t a thing that shows up like ratings or hot spots. It takes a little time and use of the app to get the feel for the AL.
There are many factors that influence AL. The time of day, and whether or not there is a rush happening, also influences AL. In fact, the rush is a great way to help AL understand. Most couriers have a preferred type of delivery. Therefore with the options available to the solo courier, it’s possible to get a positive result from AL.
Experienced couriers get a feel for this interaction with AL. The short version of this insight, is to turn down any delivery offer that doesn’t meet the conditions set by the courier. The courier will notice that subsequent offers begin changing. Perhaps the distance traveled lessens. Or the guaranteed payout increases.
The holdout delivery
With this in mind, the courier should only accept the deliveries that are within the desired parameters. If there have been five rejected offers it will be a good time to accept a less than ideal run. This will likely get AL’s attention. However, the process repeats after the completion. Stay safe out there.
