The grocery delivery and new ideas for drop-off accuracy
Welcome to the weekend, the heart of the courier work week. Every weekend starts the same way. Thank goodness it’s Friday. Every courier appreciates the bonus of the weekend. There is more business, more often, on the weekend. This leads to more opportunities for improved earnings. Similarly, the weekend is a bonus time for the at home customer.
This at home customer is using the weekend bonus time to plan ahead. Or plan accordingly. Either way this at home customer, will soon want a delivery. Whether it be hot fresh food, or pet supplies, or even groceries, the courier will get an offer of delivery soon. Furthermore, the courier is looking for a delivery offer that matches their system. For example, the hot fresh food delivery. This type of delivery completes best with proper equipment, and a good amount of hustle.
With this in mind, the same holds true for other types of delivery. The alcohol delivery has its own process. Additionally, the courier isn’t battling rapidly cooling cargo when delivering alcohol. However, the courier is much more involved with the delivery customer on an alcohol delivery. It is not advisable to leave an alcohol delivery at the door. Therefore, there is a process to complete, before the delivery can be completed.
The Grocery Delivery
This process is similar to the grocery delivery process. With an alcohol delivery the customer must be present at the drop-off. This is not the case with a grocery delivery. However, there is a detailed confirmation of the delivery in the app. This includes scanning barcodes and taking a picture for proof of delivery. This includes every item in every bag of groceries.
The grocery delivery is an unpredictable delivery most of the time. This is mostly because the courier doesn’t know how many items there will be. In the early days of grocery delivery offers, there was an item counter. The courier could see how many items there were. This feature didn’t last. Maybe the large numbers scared off potential couriers. And now it is done by orders. The courier will have one order to pick up. With an untold amount of items. (It could be a lot)
A grocery delivery can be time consuming for that reason. Because of a large amount of items. Not only does it take a while to load, but also it takes time to organize a large amount of items. Therefore an organizational loading plan is an effective strategy for the courier. It saves time at the pick up. And it saves time at the drop-off. Additionally, organized cargo is easier to keep track of.
Drop-off Accuracy
The drop-off of the grocery delivery is also important. This is when the courier should double check the cargo. Especially after unloading everything. Double checking for left over items under the seats or rolled away under that spot in the car, wins the day. Once the ride is empty, the delivery can be marked complete.
Managing the cargo in the ride is a benefit for the courier. Perishables and easily damaged items should have a protected space. For example, on the front seat next to the courier, so they can be savagely protected. (Not one broken egg) These are a few of the best practices with a grocery delivery. The courier can always hustle more and look for ways to improve the grocery delivery. Stay safe out there.
