The delivery pin and how to ignore it
The delivery pin is important. Once upon a time it was only generally important. That was mainly because it was only in the general area. The general area was okay, and from there, the courier handled the rest.
That was then. Furthermore, it was a delivery pin that might not always be in the right place. This might seem odd, because the GPS is always spot on. In fact, one can simply stare at the phone for the location. No real need to be in the moment. However, this is not true. Moreover, when the pin is accurate, things are different.
The delivery pin
For example, a delivery pin that precisely matches the building of the apartment number. Talk about high tech! With that kind of tech, it’s almost a shame the courier has to get out of the ride. Additionally, the time saved hunting down a mysterious building in the dark, is considerable.
With this in mind, why then, would the courier want to ignore the pin? There is actually a time or two when it is necessary to ignore the pin. However, it has more to do with mapping issues, than pin issues. One such issue is location proximity.
This is a situation where the pin is located on the next closest street. In the example below the address pin belongs to the street named Chiswick. However, the pin is located on Bacon Lane. Furthermore, driving to the pin was ineffective. The pin is located in the wrong place. Therefore it was better to ignore the pin.
This is one example of the pin not aligning with the actual address. However, it is rare for this glitch to occur with apartment complexes. In almost any scenario, the pin is accurate to the building.
How to ignore it
Additionally, the pin is accurate in neighborhoods. Also, the pin is a part of the navigation system being used by the app. However, simply driving to the pin, can lead to confusion at times. Therefore it is important to use all the tools available to the courier. Things like observation and general attentiveness to the details can go a long way.
Furthermore the courier can rely on real world clues. For example, the address numbers on mailboxes. Or the street sign names that are at times, extremely clever. All of these combined with the pin, equals a delivery completion. Even if the pin must be ignored. Stay safe out there.
