The delivery holidays and the truth about tips
It’s that time of year again. The deliveries are happening earlier and later. And the delivery rush intensifies with each passing day. Furthermore the season has changed, and there are more nighttime hours for late night delivery. This is a positive set up for improved earnings. The reason for the improved outlook is the delivery holidays. This time of year has several holidays that are especially active for deliveries.
With this in mind, it is safe to say there is an uptick in the amount of deliveries happening, during the holiday season. In other words, during the holidays, almost everyday is a bonus. The bonus comes from an increase in the volume of deliveries on request. Or in the queue. Respectively. The at home delivery can be almost anything. Therefore demand is certain.
However, there are other factors that play into the increase in demand. During the delivery holidays, schools are usually on pause for fall break. Or Christmas break. Therefore more people are at home during the day, and evening. In some cases. Additionally, more family gatherings occur during the holidays. This is one reason why grocery deliveries see an increase in demand. Or the shop and deliver, delivery.
The Delivery Holidays
Whatever type of delivery it is, there is sure to be an increase in demand for that type of delivery. Particularly on the main holidays. For example, Thanksgiving and Christmas. As well as Easter and Mother’s day. These are some very busy delivery holidays.
However, busy, doesn’t always translate to a pot of gold. In other words, there may be an abundance of runs, but only a basic standard with tips. Indeed, there are times when a tip can be very generous. Those moments are bread and butter for the courier. It doesn’t happen often. (The over the top tip) But when it does the result is a good shift for the courier.
The truth about delivery tips, is almost the same story, across the board. An at home delivery, especially one from a delivery app, is usually the customer’s choice. Whereas there is a system for tipping a server in a restaurant, there isn’t for the courier/delivery driver.
The Truth about Tips
The truth about tips is the same as always. They are earned. Tips are optional. Furthermore, they are unpredictable. In fact, the best way to get a bad one, is to think about it instead of earning it. The advantage to the delivery app is the courier has an idea of the tip before hand. It’s a known, known.
This isn’t always the case for the crew courier. The tip is unknown until the delivery completion. Nevertheless, most holiday deliveries, receive a tip. How well the ratings go, is another story. There are times when a customer gives the courier a good rating, as well as, a good tip. Definitely a win win. Stay safe out there.
