The cool down courier how to beat the heat delivery

This article is an opinion based article. What works for one courier may not work for other couriers. Some couriers have a penchant for speed. Other couriers have an excellent sense of memory for directions. Regardless of the style of the hustle, the need for a cool down in the heat, is always in style.

With this in mind, it is important to stay cool and hydrated in extreme heat. In many cases the experts might say avoid the heat whenever possible. This is a good way to stay cool and keep the effects of extreme heat at bay. However, couriers will be exposed to the heat often. In some cases the courier may even need to do intense physical activity in the extreme heat.

For example walking up driveways that are too narrow and steep. Or have no room to maneuver at the top. The extreme physical activity in the blistering heat will wipe a courier in no time flat. Therefore hydration is very important. Furthermore, the courier can begin hydration long before the delivery shift begins.

Soak up the shade whenever possible in the heat of the day. In fact, tall buildings and trees are good places to find free shade. There are many ways to seek out the cooler places. For example waiting inside the merchant pickup location.

Talk about free cool downs. Nothing says Arctic Circle like a blast of cold air from a merchant’s deluxe air conditioning. Furthermore, if the courier must wait, staying cool is ideal. Therefore, waiting inside is also ideal.

Staying hydrated is one way the courier can work to minimize the risk of heat related problems. Another way the courier can reduce time spent in the heat is to only run deliveries in the nighttime hours. Additionally some couriers prefer the cooler morning hours, and avoid the extreme heat of the afternoons.

Whichever system the courier chooses, staying mindful of heat warnings, and watching for symptoms of heat sickness are best practices. Stay safe out there.
