The Completion of the Cancelled Delivery
What’s in a name? It turns out a lot. And sometimes that name, is a strange one too. Strange names are part of finding that strange location, that isn’t easy to get to. Once the strange location has been found, it’s time to deliver.
Unless it is cancelled as the location is being discovered. Nothing like losing a job while meeting the requirements of that job. Now what?
The answer is simple. Time for a new job. However, there’s still a detail or two that should be addressed from the former cancelled job.
Those details vary by app, if the courier is using an app for solo gig-work. Couriers that are driving with an in-house crew have a set procedure for handling a cancelled run, that is exclusive to the particular merchant.
Most apps have a procedure for cancelling an offer. It is accessible throughout the delivery process in each phase of the delivery. There is also a particular set of instructions, on how to proceed from that point.
App specifics are exclusive to the particular app, as well. In other words, one app may not cancel an offer the same way as another app. A cancellation request can be automated, but depending on the offer it can also require the assistance of a support agent.
Support
Getting support involved is more time consuming and may mean downtime for phone time, but it keeps the numbers in a spot that doesn’t impact the couriers ratings. So it’s an important call.
In the case where the offer is an automated cancellation procedure. The steps will be outlined in the app, along the way. The courier will receive instructions on the disposal of the cargo, and on to the next.
There are those times when everything comes together nicely and the run is mere seconds away from completion. Then it gets cancelled, while arriving at the drop off location.
Once an order is cancelled from the other end, that’s it. The procedure for the courier at this point is to move on to the next. Cancellations that occur from the app side, or the client side, are handled on that end and do not require the participation of the courier.
The app will provide detailed instructions on cargo disposal and any pay that is still possible, will be included in the details. If the app does not specify cargo disposal instructions, a quick call to support can clear up any confusion.
It does happen, an offer can be great and have plenty of good parameters, and it still gets cancelled, somewhere along the way. Making sure that all conditions of a cancellation have been met, is the best way to maintain those good numbers. And remain active in the particular app.
