The best return policy is nil – Tales of the Courier
1courier checks the m-com link again. It’s the same. Outside the vehicle, the skies have turned dark, and foreboding. The winds have also picked up. He toggles the m-com link to the real time radar. It is foreboding alright. The way things are looking, he only has minutes to get ahead of the chaos. 1courier looks down the road that leads back to the badlands. How could this be? This had to be some kind of record. Or joke.
An elaborate fork of lightning dances and flickers across the sky. A brief pause and several smaller, flickering bolts, follow. And then almost immediately a booming rumble of thunder. He grins. If not for the space between the rock and the hard place, there would never be any peace.
With this in mind, he starts the ride, and sets the gear. One more quick look back at Nalphia. Then he slams the accelerator pedal to the floor. The ride leaps forward and he’s past the City limits sign in a flash of speed. Back into the badlands. Back the way he came. Moreover, this was now a return delivery. However, 1courier doesn’t have a return policy. In fact, the best return policy is nil. Especially one that led straight back into the badlands.
The Best Return Policy
Straight back into the badlands. What was he thinking? He shakes his head, and looks back at the package in the back seat. What was so damn special about that package? First he is called into the badlands to pick it up. Then he barely survives the return trip back out. Only to then be ordered right back in. He is blazing down the highway now. In fact, the longer he can stay ahead of the storm, the better.
The problem of the storm, is only part of his worry. Additionally, there is the roadblock crew. However, his most pressing concern at the moment, is the fuel gauge. If he doesn’t refill soon, it will mean a walking return policy. Then, a flash of lightning so bright, it leaves spots before his eyes. There is an impossibly loud boom of thunder. This is going to be intense, he thinks. And he scans the side of the road intensely.

1courier holds the ride steady, and blazes down the highway. The road is empty. However, this means he will have easy access, if he spots a refueling depot. The sooner he gets the fuel, and gets moving again, the better. With any luck he will be back in the city limits of Nalphia before midnight. With the best return policy yet. None. The lightning flashes again and the thunder booms. The first big drops of rain begin striking the windshield. The fuel light starts to blink and 1courier grins. Business as usual.
Tales of the Courier
The rain is torrential. Trying to pursue the courier in this mess, would mean game over. Best to wait it out. Stay back. In fact, they wanted the courier to think they lost interest. The boss made it clear. They couldn’t allow the courier to escape again. Furthermore, the boss wanted the courier to answer some questions. In person. The code would be first.
Without that code, there is no way to activate the package. And the boss wanted it activated. Was adamant about it. So they had a plan. The courier is getting his fuel and will be on his way again soon. They know where he is going so it is only a matter of time before the drop-off. All they have to do is lay low. Keep hidden until it is time.
The Best Return Policy
The rain is a downpour. 1courier shields the fuel nozzle, and fills the tank. This weather would slow the entire delivery. The drawback is more time on the road. Obviously the quicker he drops off the package, the quicker he can focus on dodging the roadblock crew watching him now. 1courier replaces the fuel nozzle. The rain begins falling harder. He is thinking about this slippery slope, as he gets back in the ride. Next up…the showdown.
