Once in every while a better than average delivery offer happens. Based on the time of day, and the day of the week, the offer could be extremely generous. It could be very short and generous. It could be long and far away, yet still generous.
Furthermore, it could be a stack with a not so great run combined with a better than average delivery. This combo is usually a way for the app to get a low tipping delivery, stacked with a higher tipping delivery. In this way more deliveries can be completed.
However, many couriers are still unsure about the proximity idea. The closer the courier is to the pickup the better. This rule of thumb is especially helpful in return to zone deliveries. This system is a bonus for the long delivery.

It happens when the courier is out of the original starting zone. Furthermore, this scenario is common to most delivery apps. However, the Doordash app has one of the more detailed setups for zones. Therefore when a courier starts in a particular zone, the app sticks to it as much as possible.

However, this doesn’t mean that everything is set in stone. When it comes down to it, and the rush is increasing, the app will push the offers. This is when being in close proximity to a grouping of merchants and dining establishments is best.
There is even a strategy of hovering particular merchants. This means the courier might only receive offers from that particular merchant. It isn’t a fail proof strategy for getting more desirable offers. However, it doesn’t appear to diminish them either. With this in mind, proximity means a great deal. Stay safe out there.
