The best cash delivery and a reliable courier backup
It’s no secret that couriers have no money. Excuse me, that should read, couriers have no cash. However this isn’t unusual. Lots of people have money or means but carry no cash. This is also true of most couriers. In fact, many couriers purposefully carry no cash. And the truth is, these days, cash isn’t really necessary in all situations.
Furthermore, if the courier is using an electric vehicle, fuel needs are nil until after the shift. Or the next day. If the courier is sporting an ultra cool Tesla. Additionally, times have changed. Many merchants allow for cash delivery but this is because they are running an in-house delivery crew. Therefore banks or pocket cash, are given to the courier to assist with making change on a cash delivery.
It’s part of the job for the crew courier. Moreover, the crew courier is working with reliable courier backup. This is something that helps mitigate the risks associated with the cash delivery. And there are more than a few risks. In fact, it’s a gamble the whole way through.
The Best Cash Delivery
Merchants with in-house crews have a system for cash deliveries. Delivery apps also have a system for cash delivery. With this in mind, the difference between the two, is a reliable backup. This is a very important part of the cash delivery. Especially in current times, or specifically, in the holiday season.
The process for the best cash delivery, in most delivery apps, is easy. The courier works the delivery almost like any other. Except, when the courier arrives at the drop-off location. Cash pays for the order. Then the courier can complete the delivery. When the courier arrives, the delivery cargo isn’t paid for. As soon as the courier receives the cash for the total cost of the cargo, the delivery is complete.
In other words the courier owns the cargo, until the delivery customer pays the cash for the delivery. It is not a stretch to think of the courier owning the cargo. In fact, the courier secured the pickup of the cargo, with credit from the app. The courier’s already accumulated earnings, will be used to pay back the cash the courier collects, and keeps.
A Reliable Courier Backup
It’s a good bet there could be a few drawbacks with a remote delivery system. Especially one trying to watch a courier’s six, with regard to cash in hand. Lots of things can go wrong with a cash delivery. However, it is important to point out that in most delivery apps, the courier has to opt-in to have access to the cash delivery.
Based on experience, the best cash delivery is sponsored by a merchant. There is no substitute for having local, and immediate backup. Particularly if something gets sideways with a cash delivery. There are more than a few examples of a sideways cash delivery. Additionally, after years of doing it, I have more than a few examples myself.
Most delivery apps want to offer as many conveniences as possible. The better to attract more customers. However, just because something is a convenience, doesn’t mean it can’t be a hazard. Particularly with regard to personal safety. This is why it is not possible to recommend accepting cash deliveries. Without reliable and dedicated backup and support, the risk reward ratio is against the courier. More on this type of delivery in upcoming articles. Stay safe out there.
