The authentic contactless delivery option
Dropping off a delivery is a successful delivery completion. The successful completion of a delivery means the courier is free to accept new offers for the next delivery. Even though this process is the same from delivery to delivery, it still has its challenges. Sometimes finding the location of the delivery is a challenge. Other times it might be the pickup of the delivery that creates the challenge.
When everything runs smoothly, and the drop-off is a success, the courier accepts another delivery. There are times when the deliveries are offered back to back. This means the courier runs from one drop-off, to the next pickup, without pause. This is also an ideal pace. Furthermore, there are times when the pace is so steady, there is hardly time to keep track of every delivery. Particularly which ones are leave at the door, and which are, meet at the door.
With this in mind, it is helpful to be able to track delivery completions. Additionally it helps the courier stay aware of resources and limits. Especially during very busy times. (The rush windows.) Rush Windows are the best times to be available for maximum earning opportunities. During these times delivery offers from the queue will increase. Furthermore, the pace will be fast. The courier can expect back to back runs. However, this changes quickly when there is a contactless delivery.
The Authentic Contactless Delivery
The contactless delivery, is still an option in some delivery apps. There is a leave at the door option. But the two are not the same. Actually it would be more accurate to say the two are not completed the same way. This can be confusing when experiencing it for the first time. For example, it seems logical that leaving something at the door, and walking away, is a form of no contact. And most of the time that works out okay.

However, there are those times when a delivery is specifically marked ‘no contact delivery‘. Then there is a different process for the completion. Therefore, the difference between the two delivery types, comes down to how they are completed in the app. In fact, the leave at the door option is the quicker of the two. This is because there are less steps to go through.
There are likely many reasons why the contactless delivery option still exists. Likewise, the courier will notice the contactless delivery label after accepting the offer from the queue. From there the delivery works like any other delivery. There is the pickup, and then the journey from merchant to drop-off location. However, once there, the courier must contact the delivery customer by phone. Texting is not an option. The contactless delivery requires the courier to call the customer.
The Contactless Option
The contactless delivery has to be arranged. The purpose of the phone call is to work out where the courier should leave the delivery items. Couriers running deliveries just before the pandemic will recognize this pattern. This is the way contactless delivery began in the delivery apps. It was all new. Furthermore, there was much uncertainty in those days. Therefore every precaution was worth considering.
Eventually, what was the contactless delivery, became a streamlined process. It evolved into the leave at the door delivery. By then things were well into the new normal of the pandemic. There were still more, no contact deliveries than hand it to me deliveries but they were quick and routine.
Fast forward to current times, and the contactless delivery still exists. Furthermore the order of the steps must be followed. And in some cases it may be a false alarm. Some apps toggle the delivery choice by default. Which can be a great topic of discussion when delivering the cargo in person. Nothing like a chat about the good ole days to close a clean delivery. Stay safe out there.
