The adventure time connection to the speedy delivery.
The faster the delivery completion, the better. This is the goal of most couriers. The number of delivery completions in a given delivery shift, is where the money resides. Subtract the expenses, and deduct a little for the end of year taxes, and then the take home pay reveals itself. Yikes! Better accept some extra deliveries on that next delivery shift. It’s a game of numbers for the courier. Furthermore, it applies to every courier. Whether employed, self employed, or all of the above.
With this in mind, the speedy delivery starts to make more sense. It isn’t that the courier is a hot rod exhibitionist. (Definitely old school slang.) Nor is it entirely about meeting every deadline. Sometimes it’s just not gonna happen. Sometimes there are unforeseeable delays. Like bad traffic. Or even traffic that is so bad, there’s a gridlock. Gridlock is gridlock, and getting through it means waiting. There are also times when the pickup of the cargo stalls the flow.
Speedy Delivery Connection
That one is a common issue. Furthermore, it can take on many different forms. Including, but not limited to:
- The order is still being prepared.
- The order is not there. Picked up by someone else.
- The lost ticket. The order is just now getting started.
- We are out of (insert item here) call the customer for a substitute.
- The merchant is unexpectedly closed.
- Large crowd of customers and couriers.
These are just a few of the examples. This is why experienced couriers become selective on the offers they will accept. And it is a definite criteria during the selection process at the queue. If a delivery stalls at the merchant the courier has no way of knowing the duration of the delay. It’s often an open ended delay. Furthermore, the closer it is to closing time the more chances for the delay to become excessive.

Avoiding known delays, and issues, is part of the courier’s work. Managing time often boils down to eliminating as many delays as possible. Couriers scout the current traffic patterns looking for delays. Additionally, they learn and remember closed roads and time consuming detours. It’s an effort to prevent a known problem from becoming a part of the process. This is the same technique couriers use at the delivery queue to make decisions on which deliveries to accept.
The Adventure Time Mindset
It might sound a little strange. It might even sound a little counter productive. However, it is a method that works. The adventure time mindset, is a real method for running deliveries. Furthermore, it is very useful on long delivery shifts. Although the concept has a funny name, it has clear benefits. It’s also as easy as it sounds. Similarly, it’s a unique way to keep a consistent pace. A consistent pace is the real speedy delivery.
In fact, some of the fastest delivery couriers never break the speed limit. Nor do they have problems with reckless driving. However, they have some of the highest on-time delivery ratings. Furthermore, their accuracy ratings are through the roof. And all of this without breaking the speed limit. Or recklessly running traffic lights and stop signs. How is this even possible? If everything is on the up and up, then the courier must have some kind of system.
This is a real example of treating a delivery like it’s adventure time. That is the system. It uses curiosity as a means to keep a delivery from falling into the routine zone. The routine is being too familiar with the process. That familiarity becomes complacency when unguarded. In other words, it’s easy to go on auto pilot and forget about it. Go through the motions, skip the finer details. Automate the motions in motion. Then bam. Instant stick in the mud delivery.
Adventure Time Connection
The adventure is just around the next bend in the road. It’s at the next drop-off location. Likewise, it’s at the pick-up merchant. How often does anyone get to walk into a restaurant and pick up a large amount of food, and then never have to pay a cent? Obviously the food does not belong to the courier. However, it’s fun to watch the reactions when walking in like a customer, and then walking back out a minute later, with a large amount of food for delivery.

Speaking of the delivery, where is that drop-off? Is it on the mountain? Or is it over in the next zone? The odds of having been there before, can be slim. At times, that is the best time, to learn about a new short cut. In another example, perhaps a longstanding detour is gone at last. The adventure time state of mind, is extremely useful for finding the shortest route possible. However, it is also useful for keeping a delivery driver alert, and watchful, on those long far away runs. Did someone say faraway?
Deliveries in faraway locations, are full of learning opportunities. Not only about unfamiliar highways, but also about unfamiliar areas. In fact, that is one of the top ways to discover new and improved zones. Every area is unfamiliar until the courier gets busy on another adventure. Once the adventure is underway, it’s only a matter of time before the connection kicks in. The consistent motion begins to look like speedy delivery. Meanwhile the courier is on an adventure with each delivery. Similarly, the delivery pace is smooth, and the ratings are decent. Nothing like an adventure to put a little fun back in a delivery. Stay safe out there.
