Tales of the Courier

The ride is airborne for a few seconds before it lands on the hard pack of the off road. Now they are blazing a trail. 1courier tries to steer, but at 198 miles an hour they are all velocity. He looks sideways at his antagonizing passenger and can’t resist a smartass remark.

“Well?”

The robot continues looking at 1courier but remains silent. The ride strikes something solid. It vaults them airborne, again. 1courier holds his breath, as he tries to scout where they will land. When they strike the ground again, they are still moving extremely fast.

A voice blasts from the, slow on the uptake, robot backseat driver. “You must hold the wheel steady.” The machine makes it a point to raise its arms, and pose as though holding the wheel.

Now 1courier remembers why they are in this fix. Therefore, he lets go of the wheel altogether. The ride immediately veers to the left. The robot does the head tilt thing again, and this time 1courier copies the move. Additionally, the ride has hit a rough patch, and will likely shake apart soon.

1courier continues the game of chicken. Furthermore, he refuses to give the robot any quarter. He grins. And closes his eyes. Similarly, several things happen in quick succession.

Firstly they launch airborne again, and they begin flipping. Furthermore, 1courier hadn’t thought of fastening his safety harness. So he flips too. Hard. He opens his eyes to chaos, as the ride flips again. Now he’s holding the wheel steady for real. From the roof.

He struggles to hold on, feeling the force of velocity trying to break his grip on the wheel. And it does, and he flips again in the small space. Then he lands in the lap of the robot, as the ride finally comes to a halt.

The audio blasts out a – you are so pretty whistle, and 1courier scrambles the hell back into his seat. Furthermore, the entire event has taken ten seconds max. Additionally, 1courier is glad to be stationary for the time being. Incredibly, the ride is still functioning. The machine was indeed next level.

Tough love delivery

1courier floors the accelerator pedal, and holds the wheel steady as they angle back onto the road. He is ignoring the spots before his eyes as he glares at the robot again. He is intent on making sure the delivery stays on track. And that the machine knows it’s replaceable. And he glares even harder through the thickening fog.

He reaches up and touches his head where a large knot is forming. Great! He thinks, as he struggles not to blackout, knowing it’s already too late.
