Tales of the Courier

They awaken in a cloud of settling dust. 1courier takes a tentative look around. He eases himself upright in the seat. They are some distance from the road. It appears they traveled perpendicular to the event.

His eyes snap open. Now he is awake and not just through the link embedded inside his head. They appear to have traveled some distance away from the road. Not only are they off the road but also the road is all but gone.

In place of it is a large crater. He is able to detect this by using several of his systems simultaneously. Additionally, he was able to activate the gravity dampening field just before they flipped. Otherwise the ferocity of the g-forces would have torn them apart.

1courier snaps his eyes open again. He was moving between consciousnesses, in a very fluid way. They were sitting off of the side of a highway that had just been turned into a crater. Furthermore, the crater formed with a falling meteorite. One they had narrowly escaped.

He is aware of all this as the robot. There is a constant connection the robot shares with the AI from HQ. Similarly, it is shared with the ride. The ride is a system, in and of, itself. 1courier is aware of all this in an instant, as they await some word from dispatch. A detour would create a delay.

A delay in this delivery was already underway. They needed a way around this new development. Furthermore, the issue of falling meteorites and other space debris, was becoming more prevalent by the day. Indeed, if the robot hadn’t reacted so quickly they would all be space toast.

1courier grins at the robot. This was 2 Universe and the first planet in the same. Nalphia. Consequently, something is always being constructed or demolished in this world. As well as around it. Nalphia’s orbit was a prized and much sought after position. Furthermore,1courier has heard all the tales of the conflicts happening in orbit around the super planet Nalphia.

The trouble with tumbleweeds

1courier feels surprised when the m-com link flashes. Indeed he has been expecting HQ to do a looksee. A redirection around the delay was in order. However, 1courier doesn’t feel surprised. But he is worried. Especially, with HQ’s warning that they are in the path of more falling debris.

He pushes the accelerator to the floor and the strange and powerful machine responds in kind. They are moving rapidly now as another piece of falling debris strikes the road behind them. However, they were on the way. Moreover the cargo is waiting. More chaos behind them as another meteor strikes the road.

1courier has a brief moment to wonder what is so important about this cargo. In the next moment they are dodging falling debris in earnest. HQ warns to be ready for falling debris, as more falling debris strikes the road and surrounding area. He grins. It was about time. This delivery had finally become interesting.
