Tales of the Courier – No news is good news (continuation)
The heavy freighter begins to slow. It won’t be much longer, and the cards will be on the table. Furthermore, 1courier hopes it means a room with a view. Somewhere outside the heavy freighter. He grins and flinches, waiting for the shock. However, this time it’s all good.
The freighter leaves the road and after a short time comes to a stop. The tar smell of the hot asphalt, has given way, to the smell of greenery and dirt. 1courier determines they are away from the inner city. Furthermore, the smell of livestock begins to permeate the back of the freighter.
The captors begin arguing again. They can’t decide if he is to be dropped off or held while they wait. Apparently the drop-off plan is the one gathering steam. There is something more about his smell again. However, it’s lost in the rush of the wind as he is thrown from the heavy freighter.
He summersaults and lands hard on hard packed dirt. Thinking about how it’s good to get back to his roots, he rolls down an embankment and into a briar patch. He hears the freighter roar off with the captors still arguing. Now he feels a little stuck, that makes him grin.
Afterward
The suns are setting and 1courier is stranded in an unknown land. Furthermore, he is without a ride and has lost all contact with headquarters. It is unlikely help will arrive anytime soon. Who the hell was that? And what had they wanted? Why all the drama for an appointment in the woods?
How is it that there isn’t even a need to keep him from escaping? Moreover, where has he been taken? He tries to shake off the effects of the shocking and get a sense of where he has landed.
