Tales of the Courier

It isn’t the speed that causes the tension. In fact the faster the ride travels the better off they are. Furthermore, they are only just barely avoiding disaster. 1courier pulls hard on the wheel again and the finely tuned machine responds immediately.

They swerve and narrowly avoid another piece of debris falling from space. Additionally, 1courier got an update from HQ. It was from the AI, through the link embedded in his head. Similarly, both the robot and the ride received the updates. They were experiencing falling space debris.

At first, 1courier felt as though the obvious was being reported. However, HQ had provided additional context. A mining company had been mining an asteroid in orbit around this world. They had ventured too close to a fault line.

The asteroid had broken apart. And now bits of it were falling to the ground below. His ground below. 1courier grins, it was always darkest just before the dawn. Another piece of the asteroid strikes the earth in the distance ahead. This time the impact is significant. 1courier braces himself.

Yet the machine barely vibrates. Falling debris rains down, all around. However, the gravitational dampeners have been activated. 1courier is surprised again, at the speed and intuitiveness, of the robot. Then he floors the accelerator pedal. They were in a hurry after all.

Furthermore, they only had a short time remaining. They were scheduled at the drop-off regardless of falling sky debris. HQ had sent an image of the place they were looking for. It was unique and well placed. Additionally there was only one of its kind. Furthermore, it was located in the boondock province of Chattaboogie.

Landmarks and Liaisons

With this in mind, 1courier and the robot are putting the pedal to the metal, and making tracks. Additionally HQ is ready with the next delivery as soon as this one is complete. 1courier is certain they will arrive ahead of schedule this time.

They rejoin the highway further down from the crater impact. 1courier is pushing the ride for all it’s worth. Not only are they pushing to make it on time, but also their cargo is ready and waiting. If they can make it on time.

As they round a large bend in the highway 1courier slams the brakes. The powerful and unusually shaped ride goes into a powerslide. Furthermore, it looked as though the drop off was coming sooner than expected.

The road ahead was gone. It had been disintegrated by a meteor strike. In its place is a drop off to the river below. 1courier can see the fish, as they slide over the edge, into the river below.
