The big day is finally here. Nothing says delivery rush, like a major sporting event. And one of the biggest sporting events of the year is about to take place. While many will choose to stay in and enjoy a front row seat to all the action, many others will be on the road, working those delivery completions. In fact, with such a major sporting event taking place, an enormous amount of deliveries are possible. However, it might not be exactly as expected.
With this in mind, most new couriers aren’t sure what to expect on game day. After all, an entire season just ended. Now there’s just one major game left to play, super bowl 2026. It is a major game. And so widely anticipated, that many people plan gatherings. The popularity and excitement of the Super Bowl is something to appreciate. Furthermore, merchants also plan ahead for the big game. Not only is there sales evidence from the previous year, but also delivery is popular. Especially on the day of a major sporting event.
In fact, many couriers gear up for heavy driving on this particular day. It is not uncommon for couriers to anticipate a heavy volume dinner rush. Many couriers will hit the road early to be ready for the onslaught. Those are the couriers that have good odds for improved earnings. This isn’t because of an impressive work ethic. Or a fast delivery vehicle that helps improve a courier’s times. Although those things might help, this has more to do with the nature of the unofficial holiday of Super bowl 2026.

This might be one of the few upside down delivery days. Although it’s possible to anticipate a heavy business rush, it’s very difficult to predict when it will happen. All could be calm and quiet one minute, and off the wall chaos the next minute. However, that still doesn’t fully describe the difference between the usual rush and a Super bowl rush. In fact, there’s not much that is usual about the Super bowl business rush. Except for how early it hits.
It’s early. Everything on super bowl Sunday is early. For the couriers that show up at the standard dinner rush time, most of the game delivery activity will be winding down as the game starts. This is because the game is the main feature. Not the delivery. Therefore, many fans try to get the delivery orders done early. That way there is no interruption in the game, and the festivities. Similarly, most everyone knows it is a heavy delivery volume type of day. Many at home customers try to order early, to potentially avoid any jam up during the game.
The courier wanting to maximize earnings needs an earlier than average start. For example, if the kick off is at 6 pm, the courier’s best earning window is between 1 pm and 5 pm. There will still be some kind of dinner rush. Maybe even a slight push after the game. However, the bulk of the rush is likely to take place before the Super bowl 2026 game starts.
The Best Times For Delivery
It’s the early start that sets the courier up for being in the best earnings window. It’s the rare time of year when a dinner rush comes together like a lunch rush. Furthermore, couriers will see unusually sized orders in the early runs. For example, seven pizzas where there would usually be two pizzas. Or large family packs from merchants running game day specials. There will be plenty of game day specials. However, most of that action will be early on.
Most everyone interested in watching the game, tries to have everything done and ready, by the time the game starts. Once the game starts it’s time to settle in. Additionally, many people have to go to work the following day. And many kids have to go to school the next day. Therefore, a Super bowl 2026 celebration needs to come together early. That way the actual celebration can happen right on time.
The courier can play a part in this process. It begins with starting one or two hours earlier than on a normal evening shift. Even earlier for the shop and deliver couriers.
