Staying Alert for the Surprise Road Hazard
Summertime is right around the corner! It is exciting that there are only a few more days of spring left, and then we can kick off the summer time celebrations!
Now that the season has shifted into the heatwave work, it’s a good time to buckle down, and maintain that good road focus.
The roads are getting full use, and are undergoing repairs and changes daily. Cars trucks, motorcycles and every other road worthy, and road able vehicle is out there on the road, somewhere.
With all this activity happening, on the roads, it’s a given that hazards will pop up. Indeed, out of the blue, in most cases.
Staying alert for the surprise road hazard, is an excellent way to be prepared, should that hazard appear.
The example in the pic above could be an effort to alert about environmental concerns. It’s more probable, however, that it’s alerting to a possible road hazard.

This is where staying alert is not only safety conscious, it also keeps the courier on track and moving. This helps in getting the best possible return for the day’s work.
Oftentimes hazards are not possible to detect before they happen. There are many examples of this that can range from extreme to typical.
A typical road hazard I personally encounter on a random, but regular basis, is tire damaging road debris. I add random, because it always happens when it’s least expected.
It happens regularly enough, that I carry an assortment of tire repair and care tools. It also pays to add the tire damage from road debris coverage, when purchasing new tires.
Furthermore, for a courier it’s a smart move, and it pays for itself. More than once, if the courier runs often.
Moreover, that surprise road hazard can pop up at any time. Sometimes the rules themselves can be tricky enough to warrant extra effort at staying alert.
In times like these, a pause for the cause is right on cue. Staying alert and focused, and keeping the basics of road safety in mind, is an excellent way for a courier to have a safe and prosperous day. Stay safe out there.
