Snow day delivery and the best snow fort tips
Seasonal delivery has its challenges. During the summertime there is heat and traffic. Then the seasons change, and there is extreme arctic cold, and traffic. Then precipitation happens. And there’s more traffic. Every courier knows the rush hits, when there’s precipitation. Also the bottom drops out, if it’s frozen.
Even in places that are accustomed to winter weather. Most couriers see an increase in business when it snows. There are couriers that feel uncomfortable being on the road, in extreme winter weather. For the solo courier, it is a personal decision.
It helps to base things on skill level, and the severity of the weather. In most cases, if the courier doesn’t have to go in the bad weather, then don’t. Additionally, something that factors heavily, are the available merchants.
Snow Day Delivery
With a snow day delivery, there are likely fewer merchants participating. Because they may not have any staff able to show up for work. Those that are open, and have staff, will likely be slammed. With this in mind, the courier can anticipate the wait times. Particularly for the overwhelmed merchant location.
It should be noted that for the solo courier it is possible to stay home. However, if the weather event catches the courier off guard, there are worse reasons to run a delivery. The more important thing to keep watch on, is the navigation maps.
In the same way dynamic map updates show stalled or slow traffic, they also tie in with weather alerts, and road conditions. Additionally, this is an advantage for the courier. Knowing which roads are passable is important, just in case a delivery completion relies on it.
Weather alerts and road sign warnings, are also important to observe. Things can change in a hurry on the road. The snow day delivery is just like any other delivery, with a slight twist. The snow. However, it is also a time to double down on safety. And snow fort tips.
Snow Fort
There are only a few of those. However, they are all about snow forts. Every courier does not think about the best snow fort. In fact it rarely comes up on deliveries. Unless, the courier spots one, at a drop off location. This is when the courier knows to be on alert. And to watch for an unexpected snowball. They most often come from a well fortified snow fort. Stay safe out there.
