Roadside repair – a special setup for the unexpected
Roadside repair. Once it was more common, than it is in today’s world. These days if the ride fails, and repairs are needed, a tow truck is usually called. The idea of repairing a vehicle, while on the side of the road, is nothing new. However, that doesn’t make it easy, or entirely safe. Yet it can be the difference between a completed shift or a ride in a tow truck.
With this in mind, doing anything on the side of the road, is a risky proposition. Even changing a tire, has a level of risk, when on the side of the road. Therefore, a lot can be said for being prepared. However, it isn’t always easy to know what to be prepared for. What if the motor falls out of the ride?
Roadside Repair
That would be a tow truck issue. Though, it might be possible to keep a spare motor in the trunk, it usually isn’t practical. That is why things like safety kits are a better solution. This is in reference to roadside repair. This is the thought that, like a flat tire, it is possible to fix it on the side of the road. Some minor issues, aside from a flat, can be remedied while roadside.
Safety kits are an important part of road preparedness. They contain helpful items to keep a courier safer while stranded roadside. For example, flares and hazard signs to alert oncoming traffic, of a stalled vehicle. However, the courier can also create a kit to go along with the safety kit. It will contain things like tire plugs and any type of air pump.
A Special Setup
Additionally a toolbox with a set of standard tools. Such as screwdrivers and wrenches. It is also helpful to have a set of pliers, and channel locks if possible. Another helpful item, is a can of WD-40. It should be a part of every toolkit. This is a simple setup for a few possible roadside problems. Some couriers will have a more extensive setup. Especially, the diy courier.
This is for some couriers. The diy courier can only do so much, on the side of the road. That is why the number for a tow truck, should be readily available. Just in case. Road safety, and road preparedness, go hand in hand. Stay safe out there.
