Proof of delivery for better delivery defense
Accepting delivery offers, and then completing them, is a fair sidehustle. Once all the elements are in place, it is possible to develop an income, with a delivery app. In fact, there is some recompense for completing deliveries. However, it varies. Sometimes, the courier will see offers that lead to positive earnings. Other times not so much. It’s a game of numbers, and without prudence and a discerning eye it can lead to losses for the courier.
The discerning eye will help catch every detail of that offer from the queue. Additionally, diligence will help create a fail proof way of getting, and providing, delivery proof. This proof should be outside, and aside from, what any app does for its own purposes. Apps can be impersonal, and will leave the courier with no recourse of action in some cases. Therefore proof of delivery is a best practice.
It seems that apps are designed to work without support, as much as possible. Human support is costly. Likewise, with some apps, the level and quality of support, is equal to the courier’s level in the app. Not a gold or platinum member? Welcome to the back of the line. The courier should always have an independent backup plan.
Proof of Delivery for Better Delivery Defense
A delivery defense is a concept that helps the courier. For example, the picture of the cargo at the door of the drop-off location. Picture proof is indisputable. If the delivery customer did not get the delivery. But the courier made the drop-off. And there is a picture to prove it. Then the courier has proof of delivery. What the cargo did after the courier departed, is anyone’s guess.
In other words, delivery cargo isn’t usually the type to ghost a delivery customer. However, not every delivery customer receives their delivery. Oddly enough this happens most often when it is one person’s word against another. Or, in situations where there is no proof of delivery. This example is why independent proof is a benefit for the courier.
Of course this doesn’t mean that other things cannot occur. For example, a sneaky porch pirate. Likewise, the porch pirate doesn’t have to be human. In fact, it is very likely that coyotes like pizza too. Or Wendy’s hamburgers and fries. I know I do. Therefore, just about anything can happen. So, when the courier has proof of delivery, it doesn’t matter what happens once the courier has left the scene. Although it’s possible that chasing a squirrel for the Wendy’s hamburger, is not as fun as it sounds.
Delivery Defense
The courier seeks the delivery completion to earn the payout. With most apps, the leave at the door option, comes with a bonus. The proof of delivery is in the completion. When the courier sends the picture proof, it also triggers the payout in the app. This also completes the delivery.
With a meet at the door delivery, the courier does not get to send picture proof. However, this doesn’t mean the courier can’t get picture proof. Furthermore, the pic is very helpful in the event there is a dispute over a delivery completion. While it is true that there are certain features of the app, that can also be used as proof, it is prudent for the courier to have a backup. Stay safe out there.
