Pay first delivery and the exit of the cash delivery
Once upon a time there was cash, and lots of it. It rolled through hands as though there would never be an end to the cha ching! The courier in those days, was most likely a pizza delivery driver, and cash was the norm!
The day would start with a bank and from there everything was just fine. After a series of runs the courier was handling cash, and the pocket was actually filling with currency. However, this led to an unexpected drawback.
One side effect of carrying around a lot of cash is carrying around a lot of cash. Not only does it present a storage problem, but also, it requires extra security focus. Nothing says target like a big stack of cash.
Additionally, it is not the intent of this article to trivialize the importance of personal security and safety. Diligence in this area is courier rule number one. In short, safety first. With or without cash.
cash delivery
Some delivery merchants, such as Domino’s, have ways to assist the courier with cash management. The most basic and useful being a drop box. This allows the courier to accept cash deliveries, and deposit the cash in a safe location, until the end of shift.
But what about the solo driver? The gig courier using an app for completing deliveries, has no drop box, back at the merchant. Furthermore, is there even a way to get a cash delivery from an on-line app?
The short answer is yes. Doordash has a method for completing old school cash deliveries. It is a simple process and easy to understand and the courier isn’t on the hook for anything after completion.
Furthermore it can be an excellent way to avoid an ATM visit. Having cash, in-pocket, is always handy. And rare. The amount of cash deliveries has decreased significantly since the days of the pandemic.
exit
It is possible to list one statistic here, I am certain of, from experience. After the completion of thousands and thousands of deliveries, from several different apps, I have not received one cash on delivery, delivery.
Additionally, the amount of cash tips in those same deliveries has been few and far between, the card tips are more frequent. This was especially true during the pandemic because cash is dirty. It would seem the exit of the cash delivery is well underway. Dirty or not.
The benefits of the pay first delivery are also notable. And are related to convenience and safety, for the courier, respectively.
Most delivery apps have incentives and perks for using their service of converting courier completions, to courier earnings. Stay safe out there.
