  • One step ahead of the predictable rush.

One step ahead of the predictable rush.

One step ahead of the predictable rush.

A delivery slump after a weekend is normal. Weekends are busy for anyone working in the service industry. Many people shop, and socialize on weekends. Not only are people more apt to be active but also up later.

With this in mind it’s not uncommon for the weekends to be very busy for couriers. Also to be busy late. Furthermore it can be even more intense if a holiday occurs on the weekend. Some holidays can influence heavy delivery rushes.

When a weekend is off the charts with deliveries, it’s great for the courier. Indeed, with an uptick in offers and opportunities, there is an improved chance for prosperity. There is no doubt that weekend work in the service industry, is demanding. However, it can also be telling.

    One Step Ahead

One of the advantages of working every weekend is getting the feel for how prosperous an evening could be. This isn’t always increased when there is a holiday. Yet some holidays can have a positive effect on the volume of delivery offers. For example, one of the top delivery days of the year, Mother’s day.

The courier will see an uptick in deliveries on this day in particular. Furthermore, the holiday is on the weekend. Not only does this create an excellent earnings opportunity but also one that lasts the whole day.

It is possible to have a busy weekend completing deliveries. However, the weekend is only two days. And it is followed by a notorious day, known the world over. Monday.

One step ahead of the predictable rush.

Monday is the end of the weekend. Furthermore, it’s a possible slow delivery day itself. However, that is opinion and often the exception, not the rule. More often than not it depends on the holiday that was just celebrated.

    Predictable Rush

Mother’s day, is a busy delivery day, and it’s on a Sunday. To give an example. I have completed deliveries on every Mother’s day since 2014. It is an exceptionally busy day for the courier. Very busy. In my experience, the Monday that follows, is not.

This is a strange but enduring phenomena. When there is a heavy delivery Sunday, the possibility of a lackluster delivery Monday is increased. Furthermore, the opposite also happens.

Moreover, it isn’t always a holiday on the weekend. Major sporting events can also create an increase in deliveries. Particularly when they happen on Sunday. All of this goes into having better odds at predicting a rush. Or the lack of one. Stay safe out there.
