New outdoor Halloween decorations and the safe drop-off
The Fall season is well under way. The leaves are changing and the seasonal colors are more beautiful than ever. When Mother Nature does the decorations it’s a treat that everyone can enjoy. And this year is no exception. There is an excitement in the cool air, and the Fall breeze is the catalyst setting things in motion. Therefore, as the month of October unfolds, the delivery scene adapts to maintain peak efficiency. The days are shorter. And the nights are longer. Therefore, it’s a good thing there’s all those outdoor Halloween decorations.
With this in mind, couriers are adapting to the change in the season as well. It’s no secret that nighttime delivery is more challenging than daytime delivery. Furthermore when the seasons change, and the days are shorter, night delivery becomes more common. Likewise techniques for improving night delivery are helpful. For example, a well functioning spotlight. Or things like headband lights for walking in dark places.
Many couriers use the phone and its resources for some extra light. However, a dedicated lighting system can only improve the trek across a dark landscape. Or a front yard with an abundance of outdoor Halloween decorations. In fact, that dedicated lighting system can also help uncover hidden obstacles. Particularly when parking on the street for a delivery drop-off is the best option.
New Outdoor Halloween Decorations
They are impressive. And they are sometimes a neighborhood theme. Not only are they impressive, but also they can be a challenge. Moreover, many of the outdoor Halloween decorations are large. And they have things like support ties and custom bracing, for proper display. Add in some internal lighting and the decoration is set. It makes for a custom Halloween show. And the homeowner is probably hoping it will be a delight for the little ones. Especially on Halloween night.

However, the visiting courier may have a different point of view. In fact, the visiting courier has an unusual challenge. It’s the navigation of a dark yard, on the way to the front door. Through, and around all those tie offs. As well as the braces and support mechanisms. This trek can be challenging. Particularly at night. Similarly there may be ground level decorations that are near invisible in the dark.
Furthermore, the courier isn’t always able to park in the driveway near the front porch. In some cases it is necessary to park on the road. Then there is a trek up the driveway, or through the front yard. This is when that flashlight comes in handy. Additionally, the courier is usually carrying at least one package. Sometimes there are several packages of hot fresh food. This can be a distraction from what is actually on the ground. In the dark, that’s a trip, waiting to happen.
The Safe Drop-off
Whenever possible, the driveway is the route that works. It gets the courier closest to the front porch. And the front porch is the last stop for the delivery completion. However, when it’s not possible to use the driveway, the yard walk becomes the next best option. Surely all those outdoor Halloween decorations are just for show. Did that one just move? Of course, it’s almost impossible to forget all the YouTube videos of outdoor Halloween decorations that suddenly spring to life.

In fact, many of the decorations are very similar to the ones on YouTube. However, nervousness is the spooky side effect of navigating through all the clever Halloween decorations. If the courier sees a real ghost, it’s probably for a drop-off. Also be careful handing the delivery to the ghost. They are extremely ethereal.
The safe drop-off is about observation. Navigating around large outdoor Halloween decorations, means watching closely for trip hazards. Especially when parked on the street. Not only is there the trip to the front door, but also there is the return trip to the ride. Caution in both directions is a courier best practice. As the month of October unfolds, there will be more pics of this year’s Halloween decorations in future articles. They are next level this year. Definitely a treat for the little ones. Stay safe out there.
